With NFL Season starting this week I am running a new tipping comp with the following format. Pick 3 teams each week of the NFL season to win matches. Condition 1 - Every team must be picked during season Condition 2 - No team can be picked more than twice. Scoring - If selection wins - you get the total points of the game (Win 28-21, result would be +49)        - If selection loses, you get penalised the total points of the game (Lose 17-14, result would be -31)        - If selection ends tied (after OT) - result would be zero points Two rounds will be assigned double points for all players. Round 4 (the last round before byes for the season) and Round 17 (towards end of comp, with most games likely to hold playoff implications). Thursday Night Football selections to be in an hour before kickoff, otherwise the deadline is 11pm on Sunday. All tips will be published and sent out by email. If no tips are submitted the players score for each game will be zero, not a crippling penalty but certainly unlikely to help them contend. An example of how the scoring will work is below. Entry fee will be $50, with all money paid out, structure to be finalised onece numbers are locked in. First of all, please go vote today! Secondly, did anyone else catch that quote from #LADodgers coach when talking about the team’s #WorldSeries run? He always knew they were the most talented team, but they had not always been the toughest. And that was the skill they needed to win. It got me thinking about what leaders truly value between the two options: talent or toughness? If you had to pick, which do you hire for and reward? I’d vote for the latter--when it comes to managing change, working as a team, sorting through ambiguity, tenacity proves out to be one of the ultimate talents. One thing MLS clubs do better than most Build fan communities... Supporter clubs are subgroups of fans, created by fans, typically rallied around a specific cause. Clubs even promote the support groups on their website. Atlanta Untied has six official supporter groups, each with a bit of a different purpose using the team as the connective glue. If you search Atlanta United on Google, "supporter groups" is the second link that comes up. . . . Fans are almost self-segmenting themselves to create their own unique identity, experience, and association with the club. Teams in other leagues have tried to manufacture this concept, but it seems hard to replicate if you don't have fans leading the charge. MLS clubs allowing these groups to be known and associated with the club adds a layer of credibility and develops an even deeper association with the club than if the supporter groups were unofficially tied to the team. The parallels between sports and business are undeniable. Last night, the Celtics closed out a sweep of the Pacers to win the Eastern Championship. Each game was closely contested (game 2 not as much), yet the Celtics prevailed in all of them, showing that being just a little bit better than the competition, can make all the difference. In business, similar to sports, differentiation may not require being light years ahead of the competition; but rather excelling in the small things, learning from past experiences, and staying resilient even in challenging times. Leadership and teamwork were key components of the Celtics' success, with stars and role players alike contributing and encouraging each other throughout.
