It’s Friday 🎉 Truly enjoyed attending my first ClearanceJobs Connect Event, in Reston,VA! Great way to bring in Year 4 with Integrated Computer Solutions. Inc. (ICS)! The event was very informative - Captured a few Gems from the Speakers that will allow me to think outside the box while sourcing for Top-Talent, Secret Squirrels (#ClearedProfessionals)! I was able to take away at least one thing from each session: • Employer Branding Vs. Recruiter Branding - like it’s literally okay to promote myself & what I love as it falls in line with the company I work for! • AI In Recruitment - I always ask #AI to do certain things, but I never thought to help it develop its own Persona! That was clever. • Veteran Hiring Tips - Helped me understand #Skillbrige a little more from a different perspective. • Getting Responses from Candidates - Gathered a couple of automation apps to look into & maybe incorporate in my everyday recruiting. Everyone is going after Top-Talent, but how can I continue stand out? Not to mention, I’ve been working remotely since 2021! It was extremely refreshing to see a couple of the Clearance Jobs staff in person! I was also able to #Network with a couple of others that ICS could potentially partner within the near future! Can’t wait for the next one! #RecruiterLife

🔥🔥When are you retiring/ETSing?🔥🔥 Are you looking for your first role post military career? My advice is generally always the same! If you do these things, you increase your odds a ton! This is all 2nd to networking, always network and talk to as many people you know to let them know you are looking! People love helping! Know your audience, ensure you are on the proper Job boards for 2 reasons so you can easily be found by recruiters and to have job alerts set up for you to apply quickly. Don't forget recruiting is so much about timing, set up alerts and be the first to apply! Proper job boards is subjective; My opinion on job boards you should be on is: Indeed (great for local roles) Clearance Jobs (Great for cleared government roles and government contracting roles) LinkedIn-(Its all-encompassing  you should be on here and connect to the audience you want to work with for instance if you want to work in the Defense space, go on and connect with people with DOD companies who look to hire Veterans all the time!) Military Recruiting 101 (Skillbridge/CSP…Career Skills Program) These are critical to enhancing a successful transition for military members. 1. They help demonstrate the value of military members soft and hard skills to potential employers. 2. They can also dispel bias and misunderstandings of what Veterans are like to work with. 3. To expand on 2…if these transitioning military members are coming in doing what they have done for the military already, they need very little “training”. It’s more about showing them the subtle differences your company uses (if any). I’m told it is much more collaborative than “training” by a mentor I reached out too. Successful Veterans are one of the best things for military recruiting.

When one door closes, another one opens. Life has a way of creating new possibilities, even when things don’t go according to plan. I wasn’t able to complete my SkillBridge program, but that doesn’t mean the opportunities have dried up. My timeline may have shifted, but that’s nothing to stress about – it’s just a part of the journey. Staying focused on the bigger picture and being open to what’s ahead is what matters most.
