Alex Simonson Good day everybody! I have a question. So my drivers got loaded at a Redbull Facility in AZ and they were supposed to deliver in NE. They went to the receiver and found out some of the pallets fell. They basically rejected the load. What happened was Redbull in AZ didnt secure the pallets properly. If it had been our drivers' fault, the pallets in the back had to fall but no. Only a few smaller pallets in the middle which were not secured properly by the shipper fell. The shipper themselves set the seal, so my drivers could even see how they loaded and secured the shipment. So that being said, the brokers from @FreightEx Freight Services with MC#609862 are threatening to open a cargo claim if we dont deliver the load back to AZ facility for free. How in the world they think we need to run for free with their damaged freight which was not secured by the shipper? How long can we as carriers bear this burden from this kind of brokers? Today, I faced one of the toughest parts of my job: I had to let a driver go. Here's the heart-wrenching why: Our Horus GPS flagged not one, but three instances of extreme speeding—96 MPH, 89 MPH, and 91 MPH. When I spoke to the driver, I stressed the grave risks of such behavior to himself, his loved ones, and the public. His response? He blamed the mountainous terrain and insisted nothing could be done, even as I outlined safe driving techniques for such scenarios. I offered educational resources to help him understand and mitigate these dangers and correct his actions. He declined them all. I brought him to the office immediately and tried to convey the serious implications, the personal and public stakes involved, even explained SMS Methodology in detail. Despite his evident lack of understanding, which could have been rectified with the right attitude and education, he remained unyielding. In my nearly ten years in safety and compliance, overseeing fleets where three fatalities have occurred, each incident has cut years from my life. We draft these safety policies not out of bureaucracy but out of a deep, abiding commitment to preserve life. Thus, with a heavy heart but clear conscience, I shook his hand goodbye. Not because he failed to complete a task, but because his persistent ignorance posed too great a risk. To all my fellow drivers and safety professionals, please remember: these laws and policies aren't just rules—they're lifelines.
