Super proud of the team and product we’ve built. When I first learned about Weave and the potential to accelerate time to trial for drugs, I was intrigued. I saw the same issues in other domains. Both in rocketry and carbon markets. One party is trying to bring innovative solutions to market while demonstrating the safety and accuracy of what they’re making. The burden of proof is on the makers. Third parties have to sift through documents and data to verify the integrity of what’s been done and green light moving forward. What’s clear is that organizations need better ways to organize and collaborate around these documents, prepare them efficiently, and deliver them easily. Regulators need better ways to sift through the hundreds of pages of documents to easily answer “is this safe?”. Its not surprising that documentation preparation and review can become a significant bottleneck in drug development. LLMs offer an unprecedented opportunity to change how we collaborate around data in safety critical applications. Investigational New Drug (IND) applications are extremely complex. We are providing a way to simplify them that and interact with them to accelerate the whole process. What excites me most is that we get to build an AI-first application based off the latest advancements that really transform the user experience. We get to reimagine a lot of functionality on how to leverage AI first then put the people in the driver seat to accelerate what they can do individually. Then we get to think of ways how we can support organizations, whether it’s automated reviews, suggested edits, auto updating generated content, or something we haven’t thought of yet. We get to help people and organizations accelerate their regulatory obligations without compromising the integrity of the results. They get through the process faster. As a result, we all win if medicines are getting to market faster. Stay tuned as we continue building and shipping AutoIND at Weave.

Mustang Bio Bio Announces Favorable Efficacy and Safety Data from Complete Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Cohort of Phase 1/2 Clinical Trial of MB-106, CD20-Targeted Autologous CAR-T Therapy WORCESTER, Mass., June 17, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mustang Bio, Inc. (“Mustang” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: MBIO), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on translating today’s medical breakthroughs in cell therapies into potential cures for difficult-to-treat cancers, today announced that updated data from the ongoing Phase 1/2 clinical trial of MB-106, a CD20-targeted, autologous CAR T-cell therapy, show a favorable safety and efficacy profile in patients with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (“WM”), a rare form of blood cancer. MB-106 is being developed in a collaboration between Mustang and Fred Hutch Cancer Center (“Fred Hutch”) to treat patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (“B-NHLs”) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (“CLL”). The updated results from the single-institution Phase 1/2 clinical trial were presented during a poster session at the European Hematology Association 2024 Hybrid Congress (“EHA2024”) by Brian Till, M.D., Associate Professor and physician at Fred Hutch and University of Washington. All ten patients in the study were previously treated with Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitors (“BTKi”), and their disease continued to progress while on BTKi. Overall, 90% (9/10) of the patients treated with MB-106 responded to treatment, including 3 complete responses, 2 very good partial responses and 4 partial responses. In addition, 1 patient experienced stable disease. One of the patients who achieved a complete response has remained in remission for 31 months, with an immunoglobulin M (IgM) level that decreased rapidly to the normal range after treatment with MB-106 and has remained normal since. Wow, that was an action packed morning at #synbiobeta! What are my takeaways? Here's quick summary so far - The space frontier is driving demand for finding better methods that introduce more efficiencies, more sustainability through miniaturization and portability. There was a rallying cry for inserting a swab into portable box that would immediately generate a DNA library out the other side. Product innovation anyone? Synthetic biology companies are at the cusp of breaking through with commercialization, but they need to make sure they can scale from a biomanufacturing standpoint. Companies like Shiru are delving into online marketplaces and creating digital tools to cross reference desired protein with potential industrial application against naturally occurring proteins for feasibility. What a fantastic way of gauging market opportunity and customer need! AI is certainly being leveraged already, but need to be mindful over quality training data sets in order to get useful output. Great to see the embrace of AI, but understand this practice still needs continuous refinement. So much initiative has been put behind reducing the cost and optimizing sequencing technology, but DNA synthesis technology has fallen behind to summarize Emily Leproust. There are many opportunities to further improve synthesis quality, access to more complex and longer sequences, but how can we juggle the trade off in getting the synthetic DNA of your dreams at a reasonable price point and at quick turnaround? Overall these companies at #synbiobeta2024 are passionate in finding ways to improve both therapies and industrial applications.
