🔬 **A Call to Action for Computational Biology Leaders in Biopharma** 🔬 In the rapidly advancing landscape of biopharma, the role of computational biology is more critical than ever. These challenges highlight an urgent need for **improved computational tools and automated solutions** in our field. By focusing on developing and investing in advanced algorithms and machine learning, we can transform these workflows, freeing up time and resources for transformative discoveries. This is perhaps where the "U" turn for DTx starts? I'm not suggesting we will enter the highly bullish times of 2018-2021 but I think like a lot of technology cycles, this may serve as an inflection point as we look back on this 2-4 years from now. BIG NEWS FOR HORMONE HEALTH! Almost 2 years in the making, so proud of the Elix team for the completion of our second independent clinical trial focused on #PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). Big shoutout to our medical advisors, our passionate team and most of all - our community members for your strength, resilience and belief in more sustainable approaches to our health and longevity. The clinical study assessed two of Elix's flagship products—Cycle Balance and Daily Harmony. These herbal supplements, rooted in 5,000 years of TCM research, target inflammation and hormone imbalances associated with PCOS. Results revealed that in a group of non-birth control users: * 89.3% of participants agreed that Elix Cycle Balance and Daily Harmony have helped to regulate their cycle.
 * 85.7% of participants agreed that they had fewer premenstrual and menstrual cramps after taking Elix Cycle Balance and Daily Harmony.
 * 71.4% of participants agreed that taking Elix Cycle Balance and Daily Harmony had improved their hormonal acne/breakouts and that they experienced fewer mood swings.
 The trial, conducted over six months, involved 70 participants with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome aged 18-36, divided into two groups: those using hormonal birth control (BC) and those not using it (No BC). Each participant was also diagnosed with PCOS and experienced symptoms such as irregular menstrual periods or the absence of menstrual periods and/ or excessive facial or body hair, thinning hair, hair loss on the scalp, oily skin, and or acne. Additionally, the majority of participants in the Clinical Study experienced improvements in the following symptoms: * Cycle regulation

 * Fatigue
 * Mood swings
 * Anxiety
 * Sleep quality
 * Premenstrual and menstrual cramps
 * Hormonal acne/breakouts

Last month, the EMA rejected Biogen's Leqembi, despite the FDA’s previous approval, citing major safety risks that involve brain bleeding and swelling. Here’s a closer look at Leqembi and other promising Alzheimer’s treatments: Alzheimer’s has remained a challenging space, yet there has been movement: exciting new FDA-approved Alzheimer’s drugs like Leqembi (Biogen and Eisai) and Kisunla (Eli Lilly), both monoclonal antibodies targeting amyloid plaques, demonstrate modest impacts on Alzheimer’s progression, but come with serious risks. The Phase 3 Clarity-AD trial for Leqembi had 1,795 participants aged 50-90 with early Alzheimer's disease over 18 months. The primary endpoint was clinical decline assessed on the CDR-SB scale (measures severity of cognitive and functional impairment). Participants given Leqembi had 27% slower clinical decline on the CDR-SB scale versus those who received a placebo, translating to a ~6-month delay in Alzheimer’s disease progression. However, Biogen’s Q1 ‘24 earnings report highlights a slower start to Leqembi sales, reaching only $19M. Despite a 2.5x increase in patients receiving the drug, Biogen faced significant hurdles with Leqembi’s launch as providers faced challenges in getting patients started on the drug. Kisunla, approved by the FDA in early July, also showed promising results in an 18-month Phase 3 TRAILBLAZER-ALZ 2 trial involving 1,736 participants aged 60-85 with early Alzheimer’s. Kisunla delayed Alzheimer's progression by ~4.4 months on the iADRS scale (primary endpoint measuring cognition and activities of daily living), and by ~7.5 months on the CDR-SB scale. Remarkably, on the CDR-SB scale, 47% of patients on Kisunla had no progression after 1 year, compared to 29% on placebo. While efficacy data is encouraging, the side effects are notable:  Forms of ARIA (-E or -H) were observed in 21% of patients receiving Leqembi compared to 9% receiving placebo. For Kisunla, ARIA occurred in 37% of patients receiving the drug, versus 15% in the placebo group. Another promising development area is GLP-1s. Novo Nordisk’s semaglutide is being evaluated as an Alzheimer’s treatment in two Phase 3 clinical trials owing to its link with lower dementia risk, with expected readouts in 2025. Moreover, initial results from a small Phase 2 trial assessing liraglutide, a predecessor to semaglutide, were announced recently at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference, also showing promise as an Alzheimer’s treatment. Another drug, Remternetug (Eli Lilly), is currently in Phase 3 (TRAILRUNNER ALZ 1) with completion anticipated in 2026. Early findings suggest faster amyloid plaque removal than its sister drug Kisunla achieves, though full results are yet to be released.
