Prize pools on sweepstakes are big draws for consumers. The bigger the prize the greater the draw. So when defining your Estimated Retail Value (or ERV) for each prize keep in mind there are other costs associated with those prizes, one of which is, in the US, anything with an ERV over $600 will require a 1099 to be issued to the winner. This means more work to administer the sweeps and more money to mail those forms. Making sure you factor those costs into your total budget will lessen any surprises later on. #yesterlearnings #sweepstakes #promotions #design

I have some (strong-ish) viewpoints on colour usage as of late. When curating a palette, I no longer attempt to hit every slice of the colour wheel. As a young designer, I used to do this ALL THE TIME. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work. I’m becoming increasingly hard-nosed about colour usage in our work. I once thought too few colours made a brand boring, but consider me reformed. Being bold enough to stay true to a few key colours is confident–daring, even. If a brand has a primary palette, secondary palette, tints, and opacity rules, you’re setting up that brand to fail for a few key reasons: - Future-proofing: Whoever is managing that brand in the future is going to have a really tough time. There’s a very slim chance the colours will be used effectively and consistently. - Lack of association: People don’t know how to connect and associate with a brand if there are too many options. By including an extensive array of colours, one might think they’ve created a situation where everyone will resonate; more options equals more chances it’ll click for someone, right? Nay. It’s actually quite the opposite. The more watered down your brand is, the higher chance that NO ONE will resonate. - Trends don’t last: The more colours in a palette, the more considerations there are around pairings and contrast. Chances are you’ll look externally for inspiration, and once you’ve gone down that path, there’s a real potential you are teetering on the edge of trendy palettes that everyone is using. As always, there are exceptions to this. We’re currently working on a brand with a large palette critical to its (very fun) execution. And there are still two primary colours that will make up 80%+ of the usage of the colour. One of Grant’s values is “Do Less,” and this has never been more true for me from a design perspective. Less colours, less fluff, less (more purposeful) copy; our job is to present something confident and clear to the audience, and whether they engage with that is their prerogative. The more targeted you are, the greater chance they will. Here are a few examples of decisive colour usage that I can’t get enough of. How do you capture - and retain - the attention of your customers? Three incredible brands - Ulta Beauty, Vacation Inc. and Fable and Mane - dove into this compelling topic during BeautyMatter’s FUTURE50 panel discussion on ‘Three Dimensional Storytelling: Building a Brand Beyond the Product'.  Today’s beauty landscape is continuously shifting and adapting to breakthrough trends, viral moments and a customer who is more educated than ever before and just as time poor in where their attention - and often their loyalty - lies. The 2024 Bank of America Private Wealth Survey has unveiled fascinating trends in art collecting among high-net-worth individuals. Here’s some key takeaways: 📊 Generational Differences: Only 6% of collectors aged 44+ are "very likely" to sell art in the next year, a sharp decline from 25% in 2022. Conversely, younger collectors (ages 21-43) are more active, frequently buying, selling, and even using art as collateral. 💸 Ownership and Interest: Despite being a smaller demographic, younger collectors (13% of respondents) are making a significant impact, with 40% owning collections worth $100,000+ — compared to 17% of older collectors. Interest levels are also higher among the younger crowd, with 18% "very interested" in art ownership compared with 2% for older generations. 💼 Art as a Financial Asset: A notable 56% of collectors consider art to be part of their wealth management strategy. Among younger collectors, this figure soars to 98%, with 28% willing to use art as loan collateral. 🖼️ Changing Preferences: Younger collectors show a growing interest in antiquities (49% vs. 14% of older collectors) and drive substantial market activity, although they may not transact at the high levels seen with older generations. 📉 Market Dynamics: Older collectors' reluctance to sell is linked to market volatility and geopolitical factors, while auction data reveals fewer high-value sales but robust activity in lower segments. 🔮 Future Trends: 78% of younger collectors plan to buy art in the next year, influenced by potential interest rate cuts and election outcomes. 💡 Crypto and NFTs: While younger investors allocate 14% of their portfolios to crypto, interest in NFTs has diminished following the crypto downturn. ‘Repellence’ was directed by myself Paul James Dalton and George Kroustallis last year to reset the bar on accessory communications, Bottega Veneta’s new era Icons the perfect vehicle. We chose to essentially do things a brand wouldn’t choose to do: Embrace the dichotomy of the fashion house. Artisan roots and immaculate craft, - progressive consumer for contemporary product sector that often bucks DNA. Create an intensely powerful seasonal piece to reestablish the power of accessories to a luxury brand… not hinged around a single item we sing (or shout in this case) for fashions unsung heroes.
