The latest findings from the SCAI 2024 conference highlight significant advancements in interventional cardiology, particularly the growing adoption of radial access in PCI procedures. This shift, showing a 2.8-fold increase in radial access usage from 2013 to 2022, has reduced in-hospital mortality, major access site bleeding, and major vascular complications. Costs to staff, stock and sterilize... $3,000 an hour. $24,000 a day per room. $240,000 total per day. $𝟔𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲. To turn the lights on, basically. You probably have 2-3 of these type hospitals in your town or county. How can a facility like this maximize the amount of procedures done in those 250 days? 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 "𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐔𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧". Expectations for a Med Device Sales Leader are high. To simplify those... here is what I shared with my leadership team... It's a best practice for a Sales Director to "introduce" their leadership team to the laws of the land. The things that need to be understood upfront and early.... perhaps mistakes of the past... that can be avoided all together. Some of these are passed down... because they work. Confidence: - Become a reader. The great leaders read. Bottom line. - Take care of yourself. Body, mind, spirit. - Study the best - Avoid gossip - Push negatives UP, positives DOWN - Mind the company that you keep Command: - Fiscal responsibility and accountability...protect the resources of the company and your team will follow. - Be a problem solver without compromising the financial health of the company - Know the numbers, spot trends, communicate progress - Clear forecasting and let that dictate your travel schedule to plug into key projects - Hire great talent. Hire great talent. This will be your legacy. - Hit your number. The best recruiting tool is winning. Communication: - Build, develop, maintain relationships with HQ - Mind readers are rare. Make sure you own your engagement and deliver absolute truthfulness. Leaders don't keep leaders guessing. - Understand the difference between good to know and NEED to know and keep sales leadership informed - People updates are typically NEED to know I'm so thankful to have received the coaching and development to even understand a list like this, let alone build a winning team around it. What is your Y? How should new technology be implemented into a surgeons workflow? What is the feel factor a surgeon has when changing even the smallest component? Are we as an orthopedic society doing a good enough job listening to our customers wants and needs? Can we universally say that these new solutions are right in every surgeons hands? Is feel factor really a thing? Seems to me like there is a shift happening right under our noses. I would argue that some companies sell koolaid and some sell solutions. But don’t take my word for it! Each of these 4 gentleman below have more knowledge in their pinky about orthopedics then I will ever have.

Patients and doctors are getting confused between serum, plasma rich in growth factors PRGF, and platelet rich plasma PRP eye drops for dry eye disease. In the figure below some interchange these terms. The most important point is what system are you using to obtain the highest amount of nerve growth factor NGF to treat neurotrophic keratitis NK. Diluted serum drops has the lowest NGF. Open system PRP/PRGF has a little more NGF compared to serum. Then the closed systems which require a disposable kit has the most and varies with the system - some systems yield more than others.
