Another exciting Tableau help article! In this article, Sales Force tries to explain how the only way to set default data types for a dashboard is to go into each field individually and set the data type, one-by-one... 🕵‍♂️ It's great because it maximizes pointing and clicking and redundancy which we all know helps to maintain the highest level of accuracy in your data. Depending on the size of your data set, it only takes about 3 or 4 minutes to set the default for each variable. I was done with this super easy process in... ...well i'm still working on it but I will let you know. Also, I just learned that if you forget to set the data types before you create an extract, you get to do it all over again! That sort of thing really helps to drive in the training... You know what's not taught well in data science programs and data science bootcamps? Messy data. In school, you get a dataset with carefully curated missing values you can find with methods you were taught. In the real world, that data lives in 17 different tables with various column names, different snapshot frequencies and no documentation. #datascience #analytics #data #newgrad
