  • The Soft Underbelly of Cloud Security

    IEEE Security & Privacy

Cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and cloud operations are interdependent. The operational security of the cloud-operations function is the weakest link in cloud security. This problem is not well recognized, and new technologies are needed in the face of current security and regulatory trends.

  • Basil Policy-as-code Framework

    -

Combining a policy-as-code approach with attribute based access control (ABAC), as well as event-driven and stateful security policy conditions, provides a new level of security control. Policy-as-code approaches support separation of con-cerns, allow security decisions to be separated from infrastructure and application logic, and make it possible to unify security con-trols.

OCP Hackathon: Improve the way Hadoop clusters are optimized for crunching Big Data? January's Open Compute Summit led to the creation of a new concept known as Adaptive Storage, in which compute and storage resources would be loosely coupled over a network and scale independently to optimize big data platforms. Adaptive Storage was one of the winners in the Open Compute Hackathon, a 24-hour hardware innovation contest.

  • OCP Hack #3 Winning Team Member

    Open Compute Project

The goal in a hardware hackathon is to take an idea from concept to prototype in as little time as possible. The big differences in a hardware hack are that the "prototype" is a set of manufacturing files (e.g., a bill of materials and solid models) and the projects are often judged not just on their innovation and utility, but also on how easily they could eventually be manufactured.
