  • The Waystation Podcast

The Waystation is a podcast produced by Pioneering Collective, wherein every episode, we explore first-person stories, each told on a common theme but sourced from vastly diverse perspectives. We’ll introduce you to people whose lives are seemingly different than yours... or are they? Through these stories, you may even find that you and me and he and she and they and them are more alike than sometimes we’re willing to admit. Plus, why not share a few laughs and tears, and be entertained along…

Through these stories, you may even find that you and me and he and she and they and them are more alike than sometimes we’re willing to admit. Plus, why not share a few laughs and tears, and be entertained along the way to wherever you’re going? Our goal with The Waystation is to provide you with a not-so-subtle reality check that YOU... are not alone.

There are two ways to enter. Participants aged 18-24 are eligible to win a $2,000 Cash Prize and Mentorship package, to be put towards the creation of their own short film on mental health. But anyone, (age 18 and up) can enter for the chance to have their videoblog included in the closing credits of The Videoblogs.

We're running this contest as a way to contribute to a greater dialogue about mental health in America, and to encourage tomorrow's artists, filmmakers and performers to bravely engage with what have classically been labeled as difficult subjects (depression, anxiety, trauma) with an ultimate focus on hope.

Created and sponsored by the producers of the upcoming feature film, The Videoblogs, along with official partner Project UROK, and with additional prizes offered from co-sponsors Seed&Spark, Big Vision Empty Wallet, and 4MileCircus the contest will provide winners (age 18-24 only*) with:

$2,000 grant, to kickstart the funding of their own short film about mental health

Mentorships to help guide them through the creation and distribution of said film

*Entrants older than age 24 may also submit, for the chance to have their entry included in the credits for The Videoblogs on a special DVD version of the film

The Jury for the The Videoblogs Dialogue includes Comedian Paul Gilmartin (Host, The Mental Illness Happy Hour), Writer/Performer Grace Parra (The Nightly Show), Tomorrow Daily Host and CNET Senior Editor Ashely Esqueda, and renowned Acting Teacher Alice Spivak.
