Your agent or manager will not handle all the promotional expenses needed to make your creation successful. ✅ Instead, set 10-20% of your budget aside from the jump (and plan to raise more!). ❌. $1k isn't enough money. $5k isn't enough money. $10k isn't enough money. ✅ Engage a publicity/promotional team BEFORE launch (ideally 2 months+). ❌. Don't expect the entertainment industry to function like it did 20 years ago. It won't. ✅ Be proactive, not reactive. And when you're ready for the world to see you and your creation, let's chat. 📞

So, Afia TV felt (and rightfully so) the need for balance in the conversation about the truth or myths behind the impression that Big Brands were snubbing South East Events. After sending multiple invites to representatives of these brands, only two honored the invitation. I was present in the studio and at the end of the conversation, I stood up with some key conclusions, which I would love to share: 1. National Brands actually are snubbing the South East, and everywhere else except Lagos; 2. The claims of budgetary constraints and ill-preparedness of Events Planners is baseless and pitiable; 3. Indigenous Brands (especially those considered as home grown) don't believe the local events industry is worth patronizing; 4. A proper structure and classification mechanism is necessary to help put non-Lagos events on the map. 5. Insecurity, the IPOB/Nnamdi Kanu saga has done irreparable damage to the image, perception and economy of the South East, providing a strong and plausible excuse for investors to steer clear. This perception may last for a very long time; 6. Brand Representatives in the South East & other places are also culpable in the wrong impressions about the true situations on ground which has greatly disrupted the ecosystem. 7. Event organizers should stop playing the victim and find alternatives, understanding that there is no help coming. If one must thrive, either you self sponsor or collaborate or close up; 8. Not everyone must organize an event.
