When Jahnavee and I pivoted to build in the space of customer retention, we didn’t want to just solve for challenges in retention; but make the workflows more efficient and productive. When you look at SaaS companies that do around $ 25 Mn ARR, CSMs handle the bulk of retention, in larger SaaS companies with an ARR greater than 50 million, you have dedicated teams handling retention. During our product research we interacted with both retention personas (CSMs and Retention Experts) and here's what we learned : Manual data tracking: Retention personas often spend significant time manually tracking customer health scores and engagement metrics. This process is not only time-consuming but also prone to errors. Reactive support: A common pitfall in retention is operating in a reactive mode. The retention personas find themselves constantly firefighting, addressing issues as they arise rather than proactively preventing them. This reactive approach can lead to customer dissatisfaction and increased churn rates. Scalability: As the customer base grows, maintaining high-quality, personalised interactions becomes challenging. Managing a growing number of accounts without the necessary tools can lead to burnout and subpar customer experiences. Data silos: Retention personas often struggle with data scattered across multiple platforms, making it difficult to get a holistic view of customer engagement and health. This fragmented data landscape hinders their ability to make informed decisions and provide timely interventions. Identifying churn risks: Without predictive analytics, identifying which customers are at risk of churning becomes a guessing game. 11 most surprising things I learnt on our way to $1mn ARR! 1. Most vendors in this market are reselling API’s of someone else. When we decided to build most API’s in house, we got a lot of customers. 2. Founder led sales are underrated. Out of the 50+ clients that we have, 48 came from my connects/ efforts. 3. Customers are much more aware about what they need. The issue is no one is solving their “full” problems, and are trying to sell them the solutions which are not complete. 4. The amount of time we spend on creating content LinkedIn, blogs, newsletter, brochures, website, thought leadership, PR, pitch decks, talks- content creation never stops. 5. The Personal brand of the founder matters a lot. Especially in the fintech industry, more so in the security and trust space. 6. A single customer can cause scaling issues and find bugs in the product One of our top customers wanted to make 1 million API hits in a single hour. That night our entire tech team discovered so much about the issues that were there in our architecture. 7. Large enterprises & banks still can't buy from us even if they wanted to. There are way too many compliance requirements. They want ISO Certification, SOC 2, VAPT etc which are way too expensive & time consuming for startups in their first year. 8. Founders waste too much time on fundraising. Deciding to bootstrap BeFiSc was the best decision of my life. The only thing we obsessed on was customer support and solving their problems and designed our roadmap accordingly. 9. Having the right pricing strategy & upselling to existing customers. We went from $500k to $1mn only by upselling more API’s to existing customers 10. Recurring revenue & increasing revenue every month is too powerful. We grew 20% MoM in our 1st year. And are now stabilising at 15% in our second year of operations. 11. Doing physical meetings is way too important. Whenever possible, I try to meet people in person.And I’ve closed some of the biggest clients I’ve worked with through in person meetings. The Indian SaaS market is currently valued at $14 Bn and is expected to become a $70 Bn opportunity by 2030. As such, vertical SaaS is a massive opportunity waiting to be unlocked in India.

Kunal Shah-led fintech unicorn CRED reported a revenue of Rs 2,473 crore in FY24, marking a 66% increase driven by higher product adoption and the growth of monetised users. The startup also reduced its operational loss by 41% to Rs 609 crore. However, net loss—after accounting for employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) expenses and taxes—stood at Rs 1,644 crore, reflecting a 22% year-on-year increase. The Bengaluru-based startup achieved a 58% growth in its monetised user base, while significantly cutting costs. Marketing expenses were reduced by 36%, and customer acquisition costs (CAC) dropped by 40%, largely due to a greater number of customers joining the platform organically. “Our focus is on creating deepening relationships with our customers and on many things from UPI to Garage and other products that we have launched in the last year," said Shah. #cred #fintech #unicorn #business #startup #creditcard #news #Indianstartupnews

“I created a single product (1 unit only) and sold it thousands of time.” Although this might seem absurd but this is exactly how e-products work. Especially Ebooks. In India, readers are swiftly shifting to e-books as they are more convenient to access and comparatively cheap. Making E-books and planning a structure around them to get a good audience and then sell them can be challenging but once solved, this is a highly profitable business. I am currently working on an E-book store myself as a side project and we’ll be adding some extra functionalities that are not there in other existing e-book platforms (even kindle). Context: Salesforce has announced the launch of a public sector division in India to cater to government agencies and public sector organizations. According to FY24 results, Salesforce has been growing 35% year-over-year across industries. ✅ Here are 3 ways Salesforce is driving digital transformation: 1. Through the public sector division, generative AI could unlock a $1.75 trillion productivity opportunity annually across many functions and levels of government. 2. Salesforce also announced the launch of Public Sector Einstein 1 for Service. It is a version of their enterprise AI platform, which includes CRM, AI, and data capabilities. These solutions are also available on a public cloud infrastructure called Hyperforce. Hyperforce helps customers meet their data residency, data control, and security obligations. 3.
