Expanding Capacity: AME's Smart Solution for Penske Automotive Group Facing high land costs in metro New York City, Penske Automotive Group needed a space-efficient solution to boost their car inventory. The Challenge: With no adjacent land available, how do we increase capacity of car inventory without disruption, and reasonably priced? The Solution: AME designed a 32,000+ square-foot parking deck that supports over 130 additional cars. Built without footers, this structure was seamlessly integrated at the existing site without disrupting daily operations. The success prompted further projects for Penske along the Eastern Seaboard, proving that innovative engineering can effectively expand capacity without expanding land use. New ATRI study focuses on challenges faced by female truck drivers @TheTrucker reports that American Transportation Research Institute has released new research identifying ways to increase the number of women truck drivers entering and staying in the industry. Among the challenges identified in ATRI’s research were industry image and perception, training school completion, truck parking shortages and restroom access, and gender harassment and discrimination. Last year saw upheaval among transit bus manufacturers in the United States. Proterra entered Chapter 11 bankrupcty in August while Nova Bus said it would pull out of the U.S. market by 2025. NFI Group undertook a $444 million refinancing plan, which the company is working through. On the May 3 earnings call, Soubry said, “The first quarter was another major step in our recovery.” NFI reported bus and motor coach deliveries up 42% in the quarter, year over year, and received its largest-ever combined order of 2,290 buses from the City of New York and the New York Transit Authority. Looking ahead, NFI projects a record market in the public bid domain, anticipating procurement plans over the next five years for 21,350 “equivalent units,” which the company defines as a single 30-foot to 45-foot bus. An articulated transit bus counts as two units. Soubry expects zero-emission buses to grow as a percentage of total bus deliveries, rising to between 30% and 35% this year and over 40% in 2025. #oem

Cities across the U.S. are setting the standard for electric vehicle adoption – with many buying EVs for municipal fleets at a faster rate than individual car buyers.
