What are the best ways to break into a Customer Success career with no experience?
Even if you haven't worked as a Customer Success Manager before, your experience can still be incredibly valuable to a Customer Success Team. Consider looking for roles in software and services that align with your industry or software expertise. For example, one of my favorite Customer Success Managers at a company specializing in apartment access systems was previously a leasing manager at a property that used our solution and had never worked in tech. Despite not having a tech background, their deep understanding of the ideal client profile, pain points, and end-user experience was invaluable. That kind of insight is truly priceless to an organization.

How can you ensure customer satisfaction when managing multiple accounts?
My biggest feedback is to stay organized. Ensure you're keeping up with regular check-ins and health checks with notifications so you don't miss an indicator that an account needs attention. Data is a great predictor; even if someone is telling you one thing, trust the data on usage, adoption, etc, to prioritize accounts that need more coaching or adoption strategies.

How can you build customer loyalty by managing their expectations?
I like to let my customers tell me their goals instead of pushing them to have the same goals as all my other clients. This allows certain use cases to develop organically, ROI to matters specifically to an organization's KPIs, and be a collaborative approach rather than spoon-feeding them immediately. Your customers know why they purchased your tool, and let them decide how they want to measure success.

What do you do if your confidence is hindering your ability to upsell and cross-sell to existing customers?
Focus on Customer Value - What ROI is your customer gaining from your tool? Shift the focus from self-doubt to the value you bring to customers. Remind yourself of past successes and positive outcomes achieved through upselling and cross-selling efforts. Confidence naturally follows when aligned with a customer-centric mindset and understanding the dollars and cents tied to important goals that matter to your clients.
