What is the future of department stores? There is no doubt that these multi-brand, retail experience spaces have a key role to play in the future of the industry. But how they operate and succeed is changing - and it is an evolution which travel retail and airports can learn from. Bloomingdale's CEO Olivier Bron has implemented a strategy which includes updating stores and tailoring them to their local market, while ugrading shop-in-shops, hosting events, launching collaborations and creating opportunities for smaller brands. It seems to me that all of these are lessons which travel retail can and should learn from in a big way. We do not have the requirement of department stores to draw in footfall - airlines bring in our customers - but if we do not offer an engaging experience then why would travellers become shoppers? This enduring message guides Fondation Chanel where our current programs directly impact the lives of over 9 million women and girls around the world and indirectly we impact the lives of many millions more through policy work and systems change. Over the past few years we have increased our work on the intersection of climate and gender, recognizing that women are often those most impacted by the climate crisis and that we won’t solve the climate crisis without both men and women at the table. To date we have granted over $25m to these partners focussed on women-led climate resilience and justice. An example of this are the entrepreneurial community and nature stewards at NEWS (Nature Environment & Wildlife Society) in India, helping to restore mangroves and strengthening their communities economic autonomy and resilience to climate change. Since 2011 approximately 16 million mangroves have been planted by thousands of women - improving biodiversity, protecting from flooding and providing opportunities for additional income by protecting and restoring the shrinking mangroves. After listening to speakers, immersing myself in panels, testing innovative experiences and discussing with startups nurtured within La Maison des Startups - LVMH, I'd like to highlight three unique experiences that stood out to me for their potential to enhance omnichannel journies through key principles. Louis Vuitton's Les Extraordinaires AI-Configurator is a transformation for client assistance: This AI-powered tool allows sales assistants to focus fully on clients while the AI handles product recommendations. Using Natural Language Processing (NLP), as Stephan Emanuely demonstrated to me, the AI configurator listens to the sales assistance, understands client preferences and generates personalised suggestions. This streamlines the purchasing process, facilitates upselling and cross-selling, and provides real-time information on product availability and lead times, enriching the client-sales associate dialogue for a more meaningful and efficient shopping experience. The rise of AI-powered recommendation tools, as seen in SEPHORA Store of the Future and Moët Hennessy's AI sommelier, showcased by Mélanie S., has transformed how consumers discover and engage with products. The LV AI-Configurator takes this trend to new heights. Loro Piana Digital Silhouette is transforming personalisation:  Bruno Grangeiro, IT innovation manager showed me the coolest try-on solution I came across at the conference. The journey starts with a scan to detect measurements. This data is processed by a generative AI algorithm, creating a doppelganger and a personalised digital lookbook of Loro Piana garments tailored to body shape. This tech enhances sales through better visualisation, increases engagement, and streamlines inventory management by understanding customer preferences. It is also a way to connect with younger audiences and foster deep storytelling (clients of the brand likely know their devotion to the amazing storytelling behind their world-class fabrics). Bvlgari's Allegra Mixology Co-Creation:  Generative AI mixology experience invites customers to become the "DJ" of their own fragrance journey. By blending various essences, customers co-create a unique scent that reflects their individuality. This interactive and personalised approach to fragrance selection elevates the experience from a mere purchase to a creative expression. I enjoyed discussing with Chiara Ambrosi how this experience contributes to a high conversion rate and the amazing artefacts that clients co-create with Bulgari. Congrats Ennio Piccirillo, MBA. Richemont and LVMH appoint CEOs faster than I update my wardrobe. 😃 Yes, there have been recent CEO changes at Richemont. ▪︎ Louis Ferla, current CEO of Vacheron Constantin, will succeed Cyrille Vigneron as CEO of Cartier starting September 1, 2024. ▪︎ Catherine Rénier, current CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, will succeed Nicolas Bos as CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels on September 1, 2024. ▪︎ Nicolas Bos, former CEO of Van Cleef Arpels, became CEO of Richemont effective June 1, 2024. ▪︎ Cyrille Vigneron will retire and assume the position of Chairman of Cartier Culture & Philanthropy for Cartier. This acquisition sets the stage for the creation of a 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐮𝐱𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭. I am turning 37 this Saturday 🥳 and I'm excited to reflect a bit with you. From flying to COSMOPROF Hongkong for GLOSSYBOX with Audrey BARBIER-LITVAK Fanny Sandström and Ri-Jean Vardy (still one of the best work trips ever) to starting a family and launching a consultancy in Portugal, my journey has been filled with growth and evolution and fun. 🙏🌍 I've embraced new opportunities while staying true to my passion for marketing and business development. As I celebrate this milestone, I look back on the twists and turns that have shaped my professional journey. It's been a ride full of surprises, challenges, and moments of pure joy.
