Rigidity is the enemy of innovation in nonprofit strategic planning. Funding Opportunity ICYMI: The Community Change Grants (CCG) program will award funds to communities via projects that fit into one of two Tracks. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will allocate most of the funding to Track I projects. Track I offers an unprecedented opportunity to reshape communities through significant funding dedicated to overcoming deep-rooted and historic environmental issues. Projects under Track I will significantly improve environmental, climate, pollution, and resilience conditions affecting disadvantaged communities. "I hate boards." Boards, councils, advisory committees. Call them what you want. The truth is I have heard non-profit leaders express this sentiment of frustration time after time. And to be fair, there are some really terrible boards out there. But it doesn't have to be that way. Maybe the problem is, you aren't inviting the A Team to be a part of your committee. Associations role in addressing climate change 🔍 "The reason people associate in the first place is to solve big problems." – reflections from my recent Mission: Impact podcast podcast episode with Shelly Cumbie Alcorn Alcorn and Elizabeth Weaver Engel  on associations' pivotal roles in addressing climate change. ReD Perspective // The case for equitable philanthropy While plenty of philanthropic foundations are aware of the call for more equitable philanthropy, many of them don’t exactly know what to do about it – they lack a toolbox. In their piece "On the Journey to Equitable Philanthropy" in Alliance magazine, ReD's Charlotte Vangsgaard and Ujjwal Gupta take a nuanced look at some of the barriers to equitable philanthropy – in terms of philanthropic identity, purpose, risk, outcomes, and operating models – to foster a more open discussion about solving these long term. "There are no market incentives for building a practical roadmap to this change," they write. "Philanthropists have to fund and deploy it, and those who do will emerge as the philanthropic role models of tomorrow. Those who don’t, risk their goodwill, a public backlash, and at worst, perpetuating, not solving, inequities."
