This is an overdue post about Mike King and Melissa Murphy’s new Salesforce B2C Solution Architecture handbook. I remember reading Mike’s edition of this book several years ago when we were colleagues at Slalom; he put his heart and soul into the first version and I’m thrilled that 1) he did it again and 2) that the 2nd edition has a new section focused on Data Cloud penned by Melissa. Some key highlights. ☑️ 400+ pages covering many different products, leading practices, and considerations for designing and delivering well-architected solutions ☑️ Section 5 - “Know Your Customer with Data Cloud” provides some great callouts across 30+ pages that are dedicated to data cloud  ☑️ Some great specific callouts on using formula fields during ingestion vs. transforms (batch and/or streaming) to be mindful of the different ways you can achieve similar results ☑️ There are even questions at the end of the section to test your knowledge Whether you’re reading all of it, or specific sections that are relevant to you, I believe there’s valuable information in here for everyone. This resource is exceptional. Patrick Brinksma is sharing invaluable time-saving utilities, complete with Field Service best practices. I highly recommend it ! One of my recent favourites is the "Embed Standard Field Service Global Actions in Flow." If you wish to customise the Appointment Booking action in Field Service, this method allows you to embed the Visualforce page within a Screen Flow using a LWC/iframe approach. This enables you to build screens, create or update records, and execute logic both before and after the standard "Book Appointment" action 🙌

The latest release of Anypoint Code Builder (June 2024) includes the ability to run, debug, and troubleshoot existing MUnit tests in your Mule projects. For those who are just getting started with MuleSoft, MUnit is an application testing framework that allows developers to build automated tests for their integrations and APIs easily. For data seeding in Salesforce sandbox and scratch orgs, I've seen discussions about using either Snowfakery or the SFDX Data Move Utility (SFDMU), and the reasons for choosing one over the other. Despite being great tools, Snowfakery requires CumulusCI, which, while a great DevOps tool, isn't widely adopted at the moment. On the other hand, SFDMU relies on existing Salesforce org data as the source, which can be limiting when you need to generate new test data. I had my " Taco" moment – why not use both? 😀 Is it possible to combine the strengths of both tools to avoid their limitations? Absolutely! By using Snowfakery without CumulusCI and SFDMU together, you can generate complex test data without relying on existing Salesforce org data, and seamlessly upload this data into Salesforce.
