An interesting read reviewing Marriott Hotels from WORST to BEST... I would say I agree some but mostly disagree with this line up. About 1.5 years ago I developed and trademarked a proprietary system called the EZ Sleep Rating System that provides a Z - ZZZZZ "sleepability" rating. It's designed to evaluate aspects of hotels, products, locations and services that attend to aspects that promote an elevated sleep experience. So I would strongly disagree with the lowest ranking hotels like SpringHill Suites by Marriott , Townplace Suites Marriott, and Residence Inn by Marriott. For families these are exceptional options that are cost friendly and provide the space for a family to not drive each other crazy. It also allows for you to be able to have a more home like experience that can be favorable when traveling with kids. Although they lack the frills of fancier locations the ability to have optimal space for luggage, kids things, and still room to move about and with affordable multi-bedroom options this allows for putting kids to bed while the parents may want to stay up or have some privacy. This can be part of the secret success of a great trip. Not a family and traveling alone for business. If its an extended stay this can be a great option that allows for you to not have to order in or eat out. Stop at the grocery store and stock up on some options to keep in the small kitchens, saving you money and keeping you in control of your diet options. In terms of agreeing with the negatives... You have my full support for the low rankings of the Moxy Hotels ... Designed to entice in social settings with fun and sexy restaurants and lounges, but the rooms feel more like I would imagine a prison to be. Lacking adequate space to unpack your luggage never mind anywhere to put what you brought. Finally for the agreement in praise... At the top of the list St. Regis Hotels & Resorts does take the cake for its immaculate attention to every detail if you can afford this indulgence, its a must. However, if you are looking for a more cost effective option that still will spoil the senses and have you dreaming sweet dreams. Well then Westin Hotels & Resorts is for you. Their heavenly brand beds and bedding will have you sleeping so soundly you may consider purchasing their products for home. Wellness is a priority for Westin and they attempt to illustrate it in their efforts. Please note there is some degree of variability of experience despite brand based on location. It was great connecting with Dr. Niloofar Dehghan She provided an excellent review on the importance of early weight-bearing and mobilization following orthopedic surgery. This is a crucial factor in expediting functional recovery for our patients. Modern advances, such as locking plates and intramedullary nails, have enabled us to achieve stable constructs, allowing for earlier and often immediate weight-bearing, as Dr. Dehghan demonstrated through her review of current literature. Early mobilization is key to mitigating postoperative muscle atrophy, expediting range of motion, and preventing disuse bone loss and deconditioning. This is especially vital for our elderly patients, particularly those with sarcopenia, as fragility fractures in this population are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Since postoperative muscle volume and strength are strong predictors of complications, including mortality and overall functional recovery, it is essential to implement interventions and strategies that address these critical variables. Syforve is a winner on functional measures more specifically, in these studies, pegcetacoplan was associated with slowed vision loss and a higher NEI VFQ 25 scoring patients with GA lesions greater than or equal to 250 microns away from the fovial center, and pegcetacoplan was found to delay progression to severe visual acuity impairment with up to 38% risk reduction over 2 years in the combined OAKS and DERBY population. !!!Warning!!! Potential triggering political viewpoint / suggestion... As we are almost a week after the presidential election and you know planning for the next election is already underway, I’d like to propose a suggestion for future election cycles—whether mid-term or presidential. In the past few days I have heard some staggering financial figures (possibly in the billions$) related to campaign costs, I think I have a simple idea that could help reduce expenses, reduce environmental impact, and improve voter satisfaction: Can we please eliminate the wasteful and costly practice of sending out paper candidate/campaign advertisements in the mail? I did some quick math and realized that over the last 6-8 weeks, gathering and recycling these endless flyers probably cost me an hour or two of my lifetime. Time I will never get back. I can confidently say that none of these advertisements ever influenced my vote. In fact, I’d argue that these intrusive, unsolicited mailings may have a negative impact, as the more I have to throw away from one candidate, the less favorably I may view them. Just as we are hopefully witnessing the death of biased outdated network news outlets (sorry, not sorry for this opinion), these paper advertisements need to be “put out to pasture” or "take them to the train station"— whatever metaphor you prefer. It’s time to move on from this outdated, environmentally harmful practice.

I love seeing new data being presented for us to gain increasing appreciation for the importance of sleep wake health as a TOOL for wellness!!! With that stated, let's unpack what was found and does it actually inform on future evidence-based recommendations on healthy sleeping habits. (SPOILER ALERT: I DISAGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT.... SEE BELOW MY ALTERNATIVE SUGGESTION) In predominantly white, college educated women with a median age of 50 years old there is evidence of sleep duration and regularity impacting risk of developing other medical and psychiatric disorders (caution in generalizability) J-shaped associations were observed between average daily sleep duration and hypertension, major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. (This is re-confirmation of prior findings regarding a J Shaped curve of sleep duration and risk, however, prior data also shows potential U and V-shaped curves as well - essentially goldilocks syndrome - just right needed --> too little and too much not great) Regularity of sleep increased risk for chronic disease (this also is reconfirmation of the landmark study from January this year which evaluated more than 10 million hours of accelerometer data in 60, 977 UK Biobank participants and demonstrated regularity of sleep was associated with a 20%-48% lower risk of all-cause mortality (p < .001 to p = 0.004), a 16%-39% lower risk of cancer mortality (p < 0.001 to p = 0.017), and a 22%-57% lower risk of cardiometabolic mortality (p < 0.001 to p = 0.048). Now in regards to sleep staging I have cautious skepticism of wearables and therefor caution in these findings. In addition, the article adds that "it is possible that the atrial fibrillation associations we observed were an artifact of the Fitbit algorithm, which assigns sleep stages based, in part, on heart rate". Perhaps an area for continued research as we know ULTRADIAN rhythm matters too... At the end of the day the publication provides positive reinforcement that all hours of the day matter... Sleep Health matters.... and that RPM, and even consumer wearables, can inform on risk and opportunity for intervention across medicine. Perhaps instead of us continuing to propagate that findings like this inform EBM for sleep habits... WE SHOULD BE SAYING...
