In HTTP callouts we can set a maximum time out 120 seconds. But another important fact to keep in while designing callouts per transaction is - "The maximum cumulative timeout for callouts by a single Salesforce transaction is 120 seconds. This time is additive across all callouts invoked by the transaction.". So what does this statement mean ?? Let's say we have 50 callouts per transaction; all of the 50 callouts should have a time of 120 seconds in total. This is really really important as you can easily hit callout exception ( see below) if you do not factor this "System.CalloutException: Exceeded maximum time allotted for callout (120000 ms)" Did you know this before? I had an insightful conversation with the Director of Delivery at a prominent Salesforce partner yesterday. We discussed some emerging trends in the Salesforce Partner Channel, and I'd love to get your thoughts on them. One trend I've noticed is that partners, regardless of size, are increasingly siloing their consultants by specific Salesforce products (e.g., Service Cloud, Revenue Cloud) rather than by industry verticals. While specializing in particular products can have its advantages, I believe this approach has some significant downsides. For one, it limits the ability to deploy your top talent across different projects. Your best architect, for example, might become overly focused on Service Cloud and miss opportunities to stay sharp with other products, potentially reducing their overall value. Additionally, if there’s a lull in projects for a specific product, some of your best talent could end up on the bench rather than contributing to other areas where they might be needed. I’ve always believed in letting your best players rise to the top and contribute wherever they can add the most value. What are your thoughts on Salesforce partners siloing their talent into specific products? Do you see this trend as a positive or a negative for delivering the best client outcomes?

The best developers might not want to work for your company. “I don’t even want to work there. They keep hitting me up about admin positions” I’ve heard something similar from a number of Salesforce developers lately. Before they really hear much about the job. Or the company. Or find out whether they would click with the team. Their mind is already made up. Not because these companies are bad places to work. Or because it’s not the right opportunity for them. But recruiters keep reaching out to these developers about entry-level admin positions over and over again… It makes it clear that the recruiter doesn’t really do any homework beyond searching for the word “Salesforce” in a resume or LinkedIn profile. The company’s reputation is ruined with the professionals who could be helping them add significant revenue by optimizing the way they use Salesforce. Because a recruiter who doesn’t know anything about a Salesforce career beyond looking for that keyword keeps reaching out about jobs to the wrong people. A good recruiter doesn’t just find you the right Salesforce developer… They protect your reputation with every future Salesforce pro you might need to bring on to your team.

Comparing support system cost in 2024 Ordered by most expensive seat price per month: [$25-$500] Salesforce Service Cloud [$55-$139] Zendesk [$39-$139] Intercom [$90-$130] HubSpot Service Pylon falls into a similar pricing range as Zendesk [$59-$115]. -- Notes -- 1/ All prices shown are for yearly billing, not monthly. 2/ Most of these systems include add-ons or platform fees, which are what make the total cost of these systems really start to skyrocket. 3/ AI is likely going to change the pricing of support systems a lot possibly moving seat-based costs to other other units. 4. Salesforce, Zendesk, and HubSpot often try to offer a bundle with other products.

Thinking of working 2 full time Salesforce roles at the same time? Bad idea. Every so often I hear stories about Salesforce professionals who are doing two jobs at once, when both companies think they have that persons full commitment. They aren’t doing 16 hour days, they are doing 8 hour days but cramming the responsibilities of both roles into the same 8 hours. Running between meetings, balancing deliverables and hoping no one finds out. You will be hard pushed to find a more socially engaged and connected market than Salesforce, and you may get away with working 2 roles for a period of time but in my experience, it always comes out and it never, ever looks good. Landing an entry level Salesforce job is basically pure luck at this point... Making $100k+ with less than 2 years of Salesforce experience sure is lucky... I hear misguided statements like this all the time. If this is sometimes how you feel when you see other peoples success then I encourage you to take a look at what luck is. Salesforce Luck Defined: - Working your ass off to get that certification even when you fail it the first 3 times and begin to wonder if you can do this. - Time away from family as they sacrifice to support you in this crazy new career journey. Skipped vacations to put funds towards cert exam fees and program costs. - Applying to 100+ jobs but not keeping count as the next application is the one that matters now. Keeping the mental game strong and staying focused even when self doubt is constantly knocking at the door. - Never stopping learning. Accomplishing one milestone just to immediately start on the next milestone. Seeing the light and continuously walking/jogging/sprinting towards it. - Seeing job descriptions asking for 2-4 years of experience and degrees, but trusting the process and ignoring the perceived requirements and putting their best foot forward every single time. Over and over again. - Showing up to interviews, being told no repeatedly. Preparing even more, shaking off the fear and using it as fuel. - Getting the job offer, questioning if this is even real until that first paycheck and computer arrives and realizing OMG I DID IT! Oftentimes not truly taking time to fully celebrate and moving on to the next goal. - Working the job, drinking from the firehose, while also working on another cert or joining another training program to further level up their skills and become even more valuable. We see the Certification post, we see the #JobLanded post, we see the anonymous post celebrating that they are now making $100k+... Please don't call these people lucky, call them STRONG, call them BOLD, call them BRAVE, call them RELENTLESS, call them DRIVEN. Recognize that these are those we refer to as "tough" when we say "when the going gets tough, the tough get going". Let's all aspire to learn from these "lucky" people.

20 red flags to watch for when hiring a Salesforce consultant (Applies to all industries): 1) Lack of technical knowledge You're looking for someone who is an expert in their field. Someone who can help you fix problems within your organization. It goes without saying, they should have a thorough understanding of the Salesforce platform and its features. 2) Poor Communication Skills Any consultant worth their salt should be able to communicate effectively with your entire team. They should be an expert in communicating strategies and expectations clearly. 3) Inefficiency They're slow in delivering solutions. Blindfolded Salesforce Aiming at the Wrong Target With New Starter Storefront Announcement Repackaging is the new innovation, and since Salesforce does not seem to be innovating, it can at least put new things in different packages and call it new. "Salesforce Empowers Customers with New Integrated Ecommerce Storefronts in Starter and Pro Suite" I'm intrigued! Tell me more. Starter and Pro, so small businesses right? Ok now I have the context. (Rick begins reading!) * "Ecommerce storefronts enable rapidly growing businesses to quickly build direct-to-consumer (D2C) online stores". So, small Salesforce CRM users need D2C stores? B2B I could imagine? But D2C? No man. Just no. (OK, well maybe we just got off on the wrong foot here.) * "Key features include:" (Leans in). * "step-by-step ecommerce setup for fast onboarding" A setup wizard FTW! (Go on.) * " a low-code designer to build branded storefronts" Who is writing this code? These small businesses? Again, no. * "centralized merchandising tools to manage products and prices" A product catalog! Hot damn. * "pre-built performance dashboards to help streamline operations and increase revenue" Dashboards that increase revenue. Scratches head. Causal relationship cloudy. But, wait there's more. "Why it matters: Ecommerce continues to grow in importance." Go on. "... growing businesses will be able to grow their digital channel revenue with easy-to-build D2C websites managed directly from their CRM platform at no additional cost" Free stores! Eh? For who? Here's where they tell us: "Customer perspective: “When I set up the commerce features in Pro Suite, I was blown away. Not only were they simple to set up and use, the end result was also a better experience for my customers — they could simply click a link to go to a checkout page and pay in a matter of seconds with the payment method of their choice. Better yet, I cut my invoicing time from 50 minutes per invoice to only five minutes -- – Justin Fleming, Owner, Clicks N Code" But, who is this magical Clicks N Code. That sounds like some D2C business! What D2C business sends invoices? Hey wait a minute! (Stay with me). Drum roll..... 🥁 Clicks N Code is a freaking Salesforce consultant! Sending invoices to his agency clients I'm guessing? D2C eCommerce at its finest! Try again, Salesforce. At least if you have AI generate you a press release, maybe at least talk about small B2B service providers? And shift the messaging to perhaps talk about Bigcommerce and Hubspot, instead of what seems to be aimed at Shopify and Klaviyo? Otherwise, a camel truly is a horse designed by committee. If you can believe, it almost even gets worse from here. Headless APIs are included, because this small growing and apparently fake D2C business needs a headless API like they need a hole in their head, right?

Okay, so I've been working on an LWR Site for more over 3 months now, and these are things I've found/faced! 1) Lwr Sites are completely customizable, think of it as "just another website" 2) Salesforce styling will get in the way, although you can bypass them if you're VERY GOOD at Css! (I am not) 3) It is surprisingly fast, and slow at the same (Pages load slowly, but after they've rendered, they are blazing fast) 4) Sharing data from Salesforce to Lwr site is bitter sweet ride! These 4 are the key highlights I can think of at the top of my head, I'll share more if I find/remember any! #lwr #salesforce #developers #web #admin
