How can you make green building practices accessible to all communities?
Offering publicly accessible digital tools and clear, organized data is easy these days and can democratize access to best green building practices. While we focus on a narrower subset of clean energy and microgrid optimization for buildings at www.gridmarket.com, the raw data on which ours and other platforms are built provides a trove of intelligence and recommendations most can access, often for free. Public databases, professionals willing to open-source their expertise, and various information exchanges exist now, but the trick is mining the right ones. More to come pointing out where to look!

How can you collaborate with other departments to promote sustainability initiatives?
Through our work at www.gridmarket.com we have seen some of the most well-intentioned sustainability initiatives get tabled due to misalignment between departments. Oftentimes we have to help revive an initiative that is on life-support after an aggressive target was missed...ie. a large renewable energy procurement faltered due to an accounting issue that the sustainability department could not have anticipated and the procurement division would not have known flag. Early alignment and strong advocates for sustainability transformation across departments is critical, particularly for renewable energy transformation projects.

How can you measure the impact of renewable energy on your business?
At my company www.gridmarket.com we have seen some of the largest and most well-intentioned F500's set aggressive renewable energy targets, only to have those deadlines pass by due to disjointed approval processes and missed incentive opportunities. Targets are a first step, but an internal roadmap to receive, manage, and approve offers in such a dynamic space is absolutely critical. Legal departments are often the long pole in the tent, and months of contract review has caused countless customers to miss favorable commercial opportunities (ie. very low rate solar PPAs, for instance). Approved templates and departmental alignment is critical from the outset to ensure business achieve renewable energy targets, and at favorable costs.
