Just released! Our #SDOH and #HealthEquity Workgroup has published "Recommendations for Determinant Capture," suggested guidelines for standardizing how domain risk is captured in #EHRs. "Absence of clear guidelines for risk assessment and standardized representation of risks in EHRs hinders effective data exchange to inform interactions at the point of care," writes the Workgroup. CMS Finalizes "TCET" Coverage for Breakthrough Devices! CMS finalized its rule for "TCET" Transitional Coverage for Emerging Technologies. Basically, the plan is for up to 5 NCDs per year, generally including "Coverage with Evidence Development," and issued within 6 months of FDA approval. Clinical laboratory tests are generally NOT expected to be included, although it's not literally ruled out. Compliant Query Practice... How many CDI professionals are beyond listening to the beaten-down topic of compliant queries? This topic has been discussed to the 10th degree with so many podcasts, articles, and webinars on compliant queries. I would like to see ACDIS offer more relevant CDI topics such as best practices of documentation, proactive preemptive denials avoidance documentation, engagement of physicians by creating a vision that inspires physicians and CDI alike to name just a few. Goal: 'Rather than having each public health agency build and maintain cumbersome interfaces with each health care provider in their jurisdiction, the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement enables public health agencies to securely interoperate with provider organizations across the country using a single interface and user agreement.'

Shifting the financial model alone is not sufficient for the transition - the care delivery, workforce, and many other pieces of the ecosystem with which PCPs interact also need to adjust accordingly. Funding to allow for the startup costs of transformation must be made available. A comprehensive analysis from The Commonwealth Fund: To encourage participation, practitioners say upfront payments, investment in the primary care workforce, and less emphasis on simplistic quality measures are needed, as well as more support for practices to provide accessible, comprehensive care. #primarycare #integratedcare #teambasedcare #healthcare #healthcareonlinkedin
