A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, I received a BA in English with minors in Creative Writing and Environmental Studies. I also incidentally completed the requirements for an Anthropology minor, however was unable to place this on my official college transcript due to a two minor limit.

  • I worked to build a website providing tools for lowering carbon emissions for homeowners and businesses. My job included researching low-carbon technology and carbon-reducing behavioral changes. I was in charge of separating the information into two sections, one targeting residential spaces, the other commercial. Additionally, I researched and provided statistics such as monetary and carbon savings, initial cost, and payoff time.

  • I participated in an archeology study abroad program through the Burch Fellowship Program. While on this field seminar, I excavated at an archeological site in Huanchaco, Peru. There I practiced basic archeological techniques as well as improved my proficiency in Spanish communication, both written and spoken.

This non-profit program helps kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families by taking part in sports and other activities. I worked directly with seriously ill children, teaching them basketball, providing mentoring, and taking them to sporting events and various other excursions. While working with Bounceback Kids I have seen first-hand how important it is to allow these children opportunities to play, learn and stimulate their creativity. At the same time, I have come to understand the importance of providing a support group for parents, who talk and share information while their children play.

I organized screenings of “Paradise Faded: The Fight for Louisiana,” a film promoting awareness of wetlands loss. My job also included contacting various politicians, organizations such as Sierra Club chapters and local businesses for support and networking. I also succeeded in getting bands including R.E.M to advertise film showings to their fan base.
