I often hear course owners, GMs and Head Pros tell me that they don’t have a pace of play problem. But when I ask them whether they can tell me what percentage of their players are actually finishing on pace, they have no idea. Quicker morning rounds mask slower rounds throughout the rest of the day, distorting the average round time and hiding the fact that many golfers are finishing well over pace. Think of it like the average temperature over the course of the day - cold mornings cancel out the hot afternoon heat, for what appears to be a comfortable average. The bottom line? If you want to properly understand your course’s pace and flow of play, you need to have data. You can't improve what you don't measure. Install technology that allows you to collect data for key metrics Use this data to set benchmarks and goals Track and optimize against these, to drive continuous improvement Isn’t it time you had a better understanding of what is really happening at your course?
