L.A. Law firms are still hiring above pre-pandemic levels.   Key Takeaways:    • Thanks to its diversity in firm types and available talent, the Los Angeles market has remained resilient despite broader fluctuations in the market.    • Partner-level lateral hiring remains elevated compared to pre-pandemic levels (which in 2023 exceeded pre-pandemic levels by 10%) suggesting firms are placing an emphasis on partner recruitment to drive firm growth.   • Associate-level lateral hiring remains steady at a 1% increase over pre-pandemic levels (drop can be interpreted as a market correction for the over-hiring that took place in 2021, 2022).   • Firms are not offering nearly the same compensation at associate level as they did during the hiring sprees that took place as recently as two years ago.   • Though San Francisco has historically been the entry point for East Coast firms seeking a West Coast presence, Los Angeles is increasingly becoming that destination, signaling a bright future ahead for L.A’s legal job market.
