Livable City works to create a San Francisco of great streets and complete neighborhoods, where walking, bicycling, and transit are the best choices for most trips, where public spaces are beautiful, well-designed, and well-maintained, and where housing is more plentiful and more affordable. I volunteer with staff to support the executive management function at the nonprofit.

The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Caucus of the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club shall work within the Democratic Party and elsewhere to bring the intersectional issues of Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islanders to the forefront of political campaigns; shall lobby for legislation which upholds the rights of Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islanders; and shall encourage and support the election and appointment of Out Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islanders to public office. We shall also organize San Francisco’s large Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islander Community into a powerful political voice, demanding nothing less of candidates than full support for Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islander rights. Statement of Purpose We shall form coalitions with other Asian American and Pacific Islander serving organizations to solve problems of joint concern who understand the interconnectedness of all struggles for equality. We shall further economic and social justice for all people, especially the most marginalized and invisibilized in our Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islander Community. We also hold politicians accountable to take progressive stands on economic issues; on the rights of women, workers, immigrants and refugees; on protecting the environment; and on international affairs. I was proud to be the founding caucus chair of the AAPI Caucus of the Milk Club.

The week serves as a metaphorical bridge between API Heritage month in May and Pride Month in June, showing that our identities are interconnected, and can have compounding impacts. The first week consisted of a series of events, both in-person and online, organized through participating organizations in the Bay Area QTAPI Coalition. The Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islander Coalition (“QTAPI Coalition”) (founded in 2019) is a loosely organized unincorporated coalition of member organizations.

Established in 1988 after months of discussion and soul searching from several members of the Asian Gay Men's Support Group at Berkeley's Pacific Center, GAPA was formed fundamentally to organize, integrate and nurture a growing gay & bisexual Asian and Pacific Islander (API) identity and to foster positive role models within our communities. Three decades on we continue forward as a vanguard for the queer and transgender API community in the Bay Area. We helped build institutions like the SF Community Health Center, formerly API Wellness Center, and GAPA Runway, one of the longest-running SF pageants. There have been countless shows, concerts, conferences, political engagements, rallies, press releases, banquets, and partnerships. We directly engage in social, cultural, and political advocacy to advance and protect our community’s interests and well-being. As an all-volunteer, grassroots organization, we have been dedicated to providing a safe space to inspire individuals to be their best selves, for others to celebrate our diversity, and for all of us to continue the fight for equality. In 2021, with a unanimous vote from the board and overwhelming support from the membership, the organization renamed itself to the GLBTQ+ Asian Pacific Alliance to commit ourselves to greater inclusion of the full spectrum of the GLBTQ+ community. GAPA is a 501(c)(4) non profit social welfare organization. I became Chair of GAPA in 2017, shortly after I won the title of Miss GAPA 2016. I led the organization through a period of introspection, growth, and rebranding. In 2022, I was honored with the Godzy Award, GAPA's highest honor. https://www.gapa.org/lavender-godzilla-godzy-award
