Addressing Loneliness and fostering connections in the workplace. It's a topic close to my heart because, let's face it, it's not always easy. In fact, sometimes it's downright hard. I made a career move after dedicating 18 years to a company. Suddenly, I found myself in unfamiliar territory. All the relationships I'd built, the rapport I'd established, it all felt like starting from scratch. And let me tell you, even for someone who considers themselves outgoing and approachable, it was a challenge. But here's the thing – building connections takes more than just being friendly. It takes effort, intentionality, and above all, time. Time to get to know your colleagues, time to understand their passions and motivations, and time to cultivate trust and mutual respect. In today's fast-paced work environment, where we're often juggling multiple responsibilities and deadlines, carving out that time can feel like a luxury we can't afford. But I'm here to tell you that it's essential - when we invest in our relationships at work, we create a supportive network that not only enhances our day-to-day experiences but also drives long-term success. I am happy to report that I have developed some great connections at Buck and now with all of my new Gallagher colleagues...What have I learned? Be authentic. Be genuine. Show empathy. Listen. And remember that not everyone is going to like you and that's okay too. I am really looking forward to this discussion on May 22nd. I am sure there will be some fresh insights that I can apply to my own career journey and relationships.
