First impressions from an industrial designer exploring Prome AI yesterday and today... There has been a ton of tools in the ai space offering extremely specialized value (text to image generation, creating iterations from a sample, sketch to render, etc) but this is one of the first I've found that offers a full suite of tools in one place, allowing for more flexible workflows (adobe and krea get honorable mentions for moving in this direction). With one subscription, you can generate, edit, create variations, upscale, swap backgrounds, relight, and more. Check out the sidebar of tools in the image attached. I've tried a TON of these tools and I'll admit my monthly spend on software has exploded over the last month. This is an ecosystem where you can pay $30+/mo for each specialized toolset, and I find myself adding subscriptions more than consolidating them. As far as output quality goes, I would say most features in Prome AI are at about the 80% mark of the best results I've found for specialized tools. Midjourney is better at image generation, magnific is better at upscaling, Viacom may be better at sketch2render... But this is a comprehensive space where you can do everything, and the sum is greater than its parts. Far from perfect but this is where I would like to see these creative tools move to. I just read this article in Harvard Business Review that claims AI will soon deliver fully automated factories. While I'm a huge proponent of new technology, I think there are still too many challenges that need to be overcome like the cost of implementing AI. Not to mention that even with AI, we'll still need skilled humans to keep things running smoothly. In the meantime, I think we should focus on using AI to improve our existing manufacturing processes. This could involve using AI for predictive maintenance, quality control or process optimization. What are your thoughts on this article? 🤔

A Cornell University originated Project by Monroe Weber-Shirk and students, AguaClara Cornell Project Team and AguaClara Reach have a game engine based on the #CAD #onshape platform to automate, after inputted parameters, the design of gravity-powered drinking water treatment plants. They are making life better for a lot of people and are a wonderful project! I tried to find out who made the design engine on the onshape platform but apparently it was many people who contributed. Are such things like the design engine used to design #MRFs? Can they be used to design city wide green and grey water absorbing rain infrastructure (how much and where it goes) like for Rebuild by Design ? Can they automate the design further for print on demand ADUs like for Azure Printed Homes if they don’t already? (Its a company run by a Cornellian!) Can they automate the component design of the much need machine retrofits swapping gas for electric engines like for Turntide Technologies ? They seem to be on the edge of this… What a useful skill to have to (possible, potentially) solve so many problems!
