How can companies balance CSR initiatives with financial goals?
The best way to align CSR with your company's vision is to leverage your core assets " for good". In that way, as you invest in these social impact initiatives it will naturally build value for your company, creating a "flywheel effect". This is also the best and most authentic way to show up in your local and global community - using your company's special knowledge and experience to deliver meaningful and potentially scalable impact. One specific example of this at LinkedIn is how we use our jobs platform to connect our members to volunteer opportunities. Today, you can find thousands of volunteer roles on our platform!

How do you deal with stakeholder resistance or conflict in social impact?
One piece of advise when it comes to managing Executive stakeholders: rather than engage with them as sponsors (sending the reports, getting their input on strategy, etc) engage them in experiences (meet with a nonprofit leader, engaged in a career conversation with a first gen college student, etc). This has been game changing for us. If you can move from "hearing to experiencing" it will have a much more lasting impact.

How can CSR leaders align social impact goals with business objectives?
I couldn't agree more - getting this right in the beginning will set the stage for everything else. And the more you can leverage your core assets "for good" the more you will create the fly wheel effect where the business drives the social impact and the social impact drives the business.

LinkedIn Board Connect
ROLE
LinkedIn is focused on a new era of inspiration to prompt people's professional aspirations. This video is one of the first branding pivots to deliver this new vision. Its core was based off of earlier innovative work that Lea Ann and I created this year. That work was received overwhelmingly well which is why we were approached to take on the role of Co-Creative Directors for this endeavor.

PRODUCT
With the launch of LinkedIn Board Connect, we are giving nonprofit leaders the tools to help them leverage their own networks and their board members’ networks to find the right skilled professionals to join their boards. The Board Connect program includes free access to Talent Finder (one of our premium accounts focused on finding top candidates on LinkedIn), access to an exclusive educational webcast and an invitation to join the Board Connect Group on LinkedIn. To participate, you must be a registered U.S. nonprofit. We are launching in limited release to give us a chance to learn from our initial participants.
It is our hope that Board Connect will enable nonprofit leaders to find professionals with the right skills, experience and social capital to help them be successful.Other creatorsSee project
