Hackers recently accessed the computer network of CentroMed and “acquired” patient information, the San Antonio-based healthcare provider said May 17. An investigation revealed that an “unauthorized party accessed some of its systems on or about Apr. 30″ and “accessed and/or acquired files that contain information pertaining to CentroMed’s current and former patients.” CentroMed estimates that the total number of victims affected by the incident is approximately 400,000, according to JDSupra. CentroMed operates over 25 primary care clinics, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities, in and around San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Somerset, Texas. CentroMed employs more than 517 people and generates approximately $93 million in annual revenue.
