One of the most important financing options for small ecommerce brands are SBA loans. Here are some of the unique dynamics at play in this market right now and what it might say about the economy 1. Change in Premium Distribution: Between 2021 and 2023, there is a noticeable shift in the proportion of loans traded across different premium brackets. The percentage of loans trading at the highest premium bracket ("Higher than 118.00") has decreased significantly, from 11.3% in 2021 to just 5.0% in 2023. This reduction might indicate a change in the risk appetite of investors, a response to changing economic conditions, or alterations in the perceived credit quality of the issuers. 2. Still a High Demand for Loans: The consistent or increasing volume of loans sold indicates strong demand for capital. Not surprisingly businesses still need money. That hasn't changed. 3. The rates keep going up. The way that this money continues to be available even when investors are becoming more conservative is that borrowers bare more of a burden. Lenders use interest rates as a mechanism to compensate for the risk they perceive in lending. Higher interest rates are typically charged on loans that are deemed riskier. This could be due to factors such as the borrower's creditworthiness, the nature of the business, or economic conditions. 4. This Is A Potentially Risky Dynamic Lending rates remaining high while the terms of those loans become less attractive to borrowers could signal a bit of desperation in the market (or confidence in capacity to pay?). But i get a little heart burn thinking about the implications in the future as all of these loans require a personal guarantee from the borrowers. There are so few sources of capital for businesses in our space right now that many will find themselves with few options. Time will tell on how this dynamic plays out but it's worth keeping an eye on.

What is the ROI of a negative review? Now before you keep scrolling, hear me out for a second… Would you believe me if I told you that the ROI of a negative review could be tens of thousands of dollars? As an automotive consultant, the scariest thing for me is invisible lost revenue. The number could be $1 It could be $1,000,000 That’s the scary part. You don’t know until you know. Situations that never make their way to your desk. Experiences you never hear about. For every 10 negative experiences I bet there are 9 people who never say a word. Never leave a review. Nothing. They disappear into the ether and we never see or hear from them again. (You might even be spending money marketing to them too, ouch!). Let’s assume on the low end that every new customer lost over a 36mo timespan equals $3,000 in revenue, and every used customer lost equals $5,000 (including service). It makes my skin crawl thinking of all the revenue that COULD HAVE been generated but is lost and we never know why. Here’s a perfect example: Our client had not received the amount of Google reviews we anticipated over the last few months so we recommended a review push. It’s important to note that we are capped on budget here so we don’t have room for a vendor like Podium. We agreed that the best to do was email our sold customers prompting them to leave a review. Within 5 minutes, this is the very first review we received. Now, instead of tucking our tail, we played offense. The General Manager reached out to the customer 1-on-1, re-established expectations, and in doing so earned a customer for life by rectifying the situation. They removed the review. This customer would have never come back otherwise. We would have never heard about it either. Thousands of dollars in LTV that simply would have vanished. So, what is the ROI of a negative review? As valuable as you make it. IF you’re willing to play offense and turn a negative experience into a WOW moment. I’ve always said that it’s easier to create a WOW moment from a negative circumstance than it is a happy customer. They aren’t expecting it. That’s why it’s so important. Ask for more reviews. Don’t be afraid of 1-stars. Address them with your customer. Change their perception. I promise you they aren’t expecting it. And they WILL tell their friends and family. How do you tell if the agency you're working with is any good? By how many opportunities they bring you. Here's the deal... Some firms want to talk about branding, But moving the need this month requires a different approach. I'm all for branding for the long term, But I'm even more leads today. Using our email list, 158 dealers went to our clients landing page. Their paged convert at 8%. That's 13 new dealer leads to start the month. Plus they have 145 warm prospect that clicked but didn't convert. Those none converting dealers are now in the pipeline for this month. That's how we roll!

Unpopular point of view: Buying an annual plan for software may not save money. New products and dev are moving FAST. A monthly subscription gives you the flexibility to try new products, pivot, and be agile for the benefit of your clients and customers. If you are locked into annual plans that saved you 2 months, you may be reluctant to label them a sunk cost and move to a better problem solver or more efficient tool.
