Last week, I was lucky to go to another RE+ conference in Anaheim. I spent a week with old friends and saw new technology in the world of solar and storage. In addition to impressive hard tech such as Dcbel’s upcoming bidirectional EV charger, I was excited by the number of artificial intelligence startups streamlining our business processes from sales and marketing to design and O&M operations. I was impressed by Sales Ask AI sales coach platform, which analyzes our key language along with recordings of successful sales calls and crafts a strategy that emphasizes what we want our sales reps to focus on. They listen to sales calls and give post-call feedback, and can even send real-time reminders to our sales team during their calls. I’m excited to test out their coaching tools with our sales team. They have success in other sales channels which is a great sign for the value they can bring. I am excited about MAIA Analytics(https://lnkd.in/exD35jT4).  Their tools at the top of the sales funnel for C&I developers and installers are different than others I have seen. With their Solar Scope product they bake AI directly into their search process across every parcel in our service area, cross-referencing company websites with tax documents and identifying buy signals like owner-occupied buildings and ESG commitments. With a platform that shows their unique company data alongside incentive zones and building footprints, and decision-maker contacts that integrate with our Hubspot, MAIA can enables our sales leaders to focus on commercial opportunities that make sense for our company. And they also have landed many customers who are seeing value in their higher quality leads. AI has been a buzzword, and I’m excited to see companies making clear use of its abilities rather than promising transformational change without understanding what makes the solar business unique. I am excited to see how these companies continue to move forward, and I hope that next RE+ comes with even more opportunities for our company and industry to use AI intelligently.

5B is thrilled to have supported WattEV, Inc. on its fourth electric truck charging depot in Bakersfield, California, and the world’s first electric truck stop featuring a solar-powered microgrid with a battery energy storage system (BESS). Capable of megawatt rapid charging (MCS), the 119-acre site is designed, owned, and operated by WattEV. WattEV opted for our pre-wired 5B Maverick solar array system, ensuring rapid deployment and minimal installation costs, and marking a significant step towards zero-emissions freight transport in California. As well as being the fastest technology to build solar farms in the world, the 5B Maverick generates roughly 2x the power off the same footprint of land as conventional solar. This unlocks solar development sites near urban centres where land is expensive and/or constrained. We look forward to future solar expansion in North America’s major freight corridors.
