SVA: New paper: The Traditional Req/Ack Handshake, It’s More Complicated Than You Think! https://lnkd.in/gptUzS_J The request/acknowledge (req/ack) paradigm serves as the cornerstone example in assertion literature and courses, effectively illustrating the fundamental concepts of antecedent-consequent relationships and vacuity. However, this seemingly straightforward example often conceals a multitude of potential hidden or unexpressed requirements. This paper aims to uncover these "other" requirements and demonstrate how to articulate them using SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA). This paper pursues two primary objectives: 1.     To highlight the critical importance of requirements, emphasizing often misunderstood implications, and to underscore the necessity of formulating clear, unambiguous requirements 2.     To place significant emphasis on the impact of assertion writing styles, exploring how different approaches can affect clarity, maintainability, and effectiveness. By delving deeper into the req/ack example, we will reveal the complexities that lie beneath its surface, providing valuable insights for both novice and experienced practitioners in the field of hardware verification.

In this paper, the authors characterize the exact statistics of sums of independent and identically distributed squared #fluctuating #two-#ray (#FTR) #random #variables (#RVs). Specifically, they derive novel improved expressions for the #probability #density #function (#PDF) and the #cumulative #distribution #function (#CDF). Their expressions demonstrated to be lighter, faster, and more manageable than the state-of-the-art solutions. In this paper, the authors propose #reconfigurable #intelligent #surface (#RIS) -assisted #receive #quadrature #space #shift #keying (#RIS-#RQSSK), which enhances the spectral efficiency of an RIS-based #index #modulation (#IM) system by using the real and imaginary dimensions independently for the purpose of IM. Therefore, the error rate performance of the system is improved as all RIS elements reflect the incident transmit signal toward both selected receive antennas. At the receiver, a low-complexity but effective #greedy #detector (#GD) can be employed which determines the maximum energy per dimension at the receive antennas. A max-min optimization problem is defined to maximize the received #signal-#to-#noise #ratio (#SNR) components at both selected receive antennas; an analytical solution is provided based on Lagrange duality. In particular, the multi-variable optimization problem is shown to reduce to the solution of a single-variable equation, which results in a very simple design procedure. In this paper, the authors propose a novel state-space model to represent the behavior of #sum-#product 3algorithm (#SPA) in the vicinity of a #trapping #set (#TS) of a #low-#density #parity-#check (#LDPC) code over the #additive #white #Gaussian #noise (#AWGN) channel in the error floor region. The proposed model takes into account the non-linear behavior of SPA in the initial iterations using a quadratic approximation, and dynamically adjusts the operating point of the model in accordance to the statistical properties of TS messages.
