“Marianne is a unicorn! Over the past five years, I've had the privilege of knowing Marianne. I’ll never forget our very first conversation, I was so inspired by her vision that I made the decision to transition from freelance to a full-time role, joining her team. They say first impressions are everything, and Marianne certainly made a lasting one on me that day. Throughout our work journey and beyond, Marianne has consistently served as both a motivator and mentor to me. I’ve seen our professional relationship deepen into a profound friendship and that has been so invaluable to me. A quality of Marianne’s in particular I admire is her ability to seamlessly navigate dual roles: she serves as a leader responsible for fostering the growth of an agency, all while being an authentic and supportive mentor with the creatives she manages. Marianne's spirit embodies kindness, creativity, and resilience. I’d say Marianne’s superpower lies in her ability to recognize the potential within individuals and empowering them to see and realize it within themselves. If you're in search of a leader, mentor, collaborator, and all-around authentic human being, look no further because Marianne is it!”

You're navigating feedback with a senior team member. How do you ensure a smooth and respectful conversation?
When giving feedback to a peer the first thing I always do is ask them if they are open to feedback. Very few people have declined but it gives the receiver a moment to get in the mindset to prepare. Then I give my observations and experience in the situation rather than pointing fingers. Asking questions is another tool I love to use to understand the background rather than making any assumptions.

You're navigating stakeholder input and strategic rebranding goals. How can you strike the perfect balance?
The definition of perfect has to be determined before the project is started. Where does the weight of decision makers lie? Within all situations I have found that there must be a final decision maker and goals should be aligned on with that person prior to the initiation. Throughout the process I find key moments to ensure those decision makers are comfortable with the strategy and direction the project is going to take. Milestones are the best way to gauge progress and are like mile markers or exit signs on a road. Have you passed one without your caravan all still together? Time to go back and align.

You're aiming to boost your brand's growth. How can you spot emerging trends with market research?
Market research through owned channels can be extremely helpful and cost effective. Always be aware and tuned into what your competition is doing but consider small shifts or adjustments you can make to your own content and measure the results. Your audience will tell you what they are interested in, value, and want to engage with. Don't ignore the important signs and lean into what's working provided it's giving you access to the audience you want and growing engagement.

You're navigating conflicting ideas in a team project. How do you unite creativity for a cohesive solution?
Sometimes these things can resolve themselves if you can go back to a clear project brief that was laid out at the start. If that wasn't the case then I like to outline what the key elements are that must be accomplished with the project and eliminate areas of personal bias or preference from the discussion. Leveling the playing field for all those with differing opinions and then allowing for a safe space to share and discuss pros and cons. It's important to find areas that are flexible both parties can agree on but also allowing some room for variance in the process. It can be great to bring clients 2-3 options on something with a range so they can also have an opportunity to weigh in!
