What is sales readiness? And why should you care about it even if you're not in sales? Making sure your sales reps are prepared to have thoughtful conversations with customers is essential, especially now that customers have a lower tolerance for inauthentic, rote buying experiences. Customers want to leave a conversation not only with a smile on their face, but with confidence that your company is right fit for them, for both the present and the future. And EVERYONE has a stake in that. So you need to make sure, in whichever way you can contribute, that your sales reps are ready to give customers that secure feeling. Re-reading "The Bezos Blueprint" by Carmine Gallo page 17, references Bezos commencement speech to the 2010 Princeton Class. "What I want to talk to you about today is the difference between gifts and choices. Cleverness is a gift; kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy -- they're given after all. Choices can be hard. In the end, we are our choices." "Six years after his speech at Princeton, Bezos revisited the theme in taking pride in your choices, not your gifts. "This is something that's super important for young people to understand, and for parents to preach to young people. It's really easy for a talented young person to take pride in their gifts. 'I'm really athletic,' or 'I'm really smart,', or 'I'm really good at math.' That's fine. You should celebrate your gifts. You should be happy. But you can't be proud of them. What you can be proud of is your choices." Did you work hard? That's a choice. Did you study hard? That's a choice. Did you practice? That's a choice. Wow what a week in Seattle for our annual sales kick-off "MCAPS Start." It was great spending time with so many friends from across the world in- and outside of the Seattle Convention Center. Thank you Judson Althoff and your entire team for an incredible few days packed full of celebration, insights and inspiration🔥. As the new fiscal year at Microsoft kicks-off in earnest for many - a few takeaways from last week's event: 1️⃣ In person and my team are everything 🙏 2️⃣ And my leadership team is the best in the business Darryl Willis, Jim Norred, Karen Garrette, Keith Mercier, Silvia Candiani, Shanthi Rajagopalan 😘 3️⃣ AI transformation = business transformation 💡 4️⃣ Data is the fuel behind AI transformation but remember garbage in, garbage out! 5️⃣ Always wear good shoes for a conference but then remember to put yourself in other people's shoes👟 As our CEO says, "Microsoft is a consequential company at a consequential time."
