Landed a summer internship? Here’s how to STAND OUT! While you might think you only have a short amount of time to stand out in your internship this summer, it’s definitely doable and something to strive for. Keep these things in mind as you learn to integrate yourself into a new business, team and industry. ✔ Attitude – come to work every day with a great attitude and a positive mindset. Even in the hard stuff, find a way to bring energy and enthusiasm. Initiative – don’t wait for someone to ask you to do things, jump in! If you see something that needs to be done, take the initiative to do it. If you think you might be overstepping, ask if you can do the task or project. ✔Curiosity – ask lots of questions, but try not to ask the same question twice. The power of inquiry is a great way to learn and show you are truly engaged in what you’re doing. ✔Coachability – be open to feedback, positive and constructive, and then act. If you are doing something incorrectly or ineffectively, hear the feedback and make corrections or work to grow in that area. ✔Respect – show respect to everyone that is investing in you. Use proper names, unless told you can call someone by a nickname. Remember you aren’t hanging out with your girlfriends or buddies, act and show respect appropriately. Have fun and be a difference maker!

This is so well said and true. There are many contributing factors to why a position isn't the right fit or maybe doesn't get filled at all. Providing a positive recruiting experience is vital to build the relationship with a candidate in hopes of helping them find that just right role. Candidates that have excellent interview experiences will tell their friends and fellow job seekers that you were the reason they got the job or the reason they were ok with not getting the job. Ultimately they will be the word of mouth to refer new talent to you.
