One thing MLS clubs do better than most Build fan communities... Supporter clubs are subgroups of fans, created by fans, typically rallied around a specific cause. Clubs even promote the support groups on their website. Atlanta Untied has six official supporter groups, each with a bit of a different purpose using the team as the connective glue. If you search Atlanta United on Google, "supporter groups" is the second link that comes up. . . . Fans are almost self-segmenting themselves to create their own unique identity, experience, and association with the club. Teams in other leagues have tried to manufacture this concept, but it seems hard to replicate if you don't have fans leading the charge. MLS clubs allowing these groups to be known and associated with the club adds a layer of credibility and develops an even deeper association with the club than if the supporter groups were unofficially tied to the team. Very interesting with the Talent Fee here….and initially, I’m not opposed to it and would be okay with a percentage of ticket sales going back to the players. My question is this: 102k in attendance for a home UT game. 10% talent fee goes to players. Does that only go to football players or does all “talent fees” go into a pot and they divide that among all of the UT sports and student-athletes?

✅🖥️ Nielsen (10/15): “Nielsen’s September 2024 report of The Gauge™ revealed that NFL viewership this month notably reflected audiences’ familiarization with the cross-platform distribution of its games. This was most clearly indicated by the 12% bump in Amazon Prime Video viewership in September, which was driven largely by Thursday Night Football, and ultimately led it to match its platform-best share of TV (set in September 2023 and tied in October 2023) at 3.6%. Peacock also benefited from NFL-driven audiences with its exclusive coverage of Green Bay vs. Philadelphia on September 6. The NFL’s debut in São Paulo, Brazil garnered 2.6B viewing minutes, making the game the 11th most streamed program in September. The resurgence of the NFL was also evident on the broadcast side, as NFL games accounted for 14 of the top 15 broadcast telecasts in September, with the top three garnering over 3B viewing minutes each on NBC, CBS and FOX. Additionally, broadcast sports viewing was up nearly 9% compared to August, despite already coming off a 44% increase the previous month due to the surge from the Olympics. Streaming maintained its 41.0% share of TV in September despite viewership declining slightly from August (-2.2%), in line with seasonal trends. First of all, please go vote today! Secondly, did anyone else catch that quote from #LADodgers coach when talking about the team’s #WorldSeries run? He always knew they were the most talented team, but they had not always been the toughest. And that was the skill they needed to win. It got me thinking about what leaders truly value between the two options: talent or toughness? If you had to pick, which do you hire for and reward? I’d vote for the latter--when it comes to managing change, working as a team, sorting through ambiguity, tenacity proves out to be one of the ultimate talents. 🏀📺COLLATERAL DAMAGE - while not finalized it’s looking like NBC Sports will be replacing Warner Bros. Discovery Sports as the 2nd (3rd) National Basketball Association (NBA) broadcast package. There’s been a lot posted on this but I have a very different take. Most are saying it’s crazy TNT would let this slip and mostly because they do have the greatest post game show all all time 🥇and Charles Barkley Shaquille O'Neal Kenny Smith @ernie stewart will inevitably split as I doubt they can all switch collectively. WHY IS TNT not matching. PURELY SMART ECONOMICS. We all know cable and broadcast is dying. Before this new 10 yr deal expires the word cable won’t exist. The NBA is NOT the NFL, and fact they can get this money will be the last time. There is a reason Marc Cuban sold the Mavs. In my opinion fans who watch NBA can be into 3 categories 1. Diehard NBA (like myself) will subscribe NBA Gamepass all games globally, we won’t get Peacock for NBA as we don’t need 2. Fans who care but only big games and really care playoff time (this is a target of these rights) 3. Fans who only follow their local team (they will ultimately be subscribing to a D2C product) many of these fans pay for cable but will they subscribe to a streaming platform for NBA doubtful Cable TV is dead 🪦and the value of TNT on cable was dropping 📉as each subscriber churns, down down down📉 There is now a streaming war and a fight for subs to survive (uphill climb) So why is NBC paying so much.💰NBC / Peacock needs subs desperately; as when a Comcast customer churns then need to show them value to subscribe Peacock. Comcast has a new bundle coming Apple TV Netflix Peacock at extremely discounted rate, probably losing money they are so desperate for subs Sports is Comcast only hope as NBC TV no longer cuts it, the days of Friends and Sat Night Live aren’t pulling customers but National Football League (NFL) is a cornerstone Olympics will help and English Premier League adds a bump but they need NBA to fill out their offer. Warner Discovery - or should I say MAX - does not need sports as HBO is the anchor. I subscribe to MAX for their original content, specifically HBO unparalleled shows; MAX 👑crown jewel. Getting an NBA game here or there is an added bonus, but seeing GoT, or the next big thing aka Succession, Wire, Sopranos etc is what will drive subs not a tue night TNT game and not Charles, Shaq, Jet or Ernie. It was an amazing run and hands down best show 🥇for the analysis + light comedy and telling it how it is. I’ll miss it; hopefully but unlikely they regroup under Amazon ESPN or NBC. Next Friday we are back with a new Locker Room Sports Community model that I've designed to better serve athlete business owners, our sports business members, and sports focused non-profits. A limited number of sports related non-profit organizations that serve kids will receive membership at no cost. Please reach out for information on how to apply. In order to support our non-profits, we focus on creating partnerships with athletes, sports industry companies, and other non-profits in order to impact more kids. Our athlete business owners and sports business members will be coming together to help our non-profits through fundraising events, volunteerism, and cause marketing campaigns. Personally, I’m stepping into finding purpose in pain, and making a difference in the lives of kids is how I do that. I’m dedicating myself to using my sports business projects to generate funds for further research into early onset bipolar and using my platform to create awareness of this poorly understood condition. Bipolar that starts as a young child is more severe and complex than adult onset bipolar, and the life outcomes are worse. Since childhood, this condition has ruined my life more times and in more ways than I can count. I will consider my life a waste if I can’t find a way to help other kids not end up like me.

"Daily Did You Know?" The Atlanta Braves in the Major League Baseball (MLB) has been sponsored by RaceTrac since 2014. In 2017, they introduced a campaign called "#BeatTheFreeze" that has been #HugelySuccessful with some calling it the #BestTradition in the #MLB- it's even spawned action figures! #TheCampaign - Between innings at their home games, an #AtlantaBraves fan had the chance to out run "The Freeze" over approx 180m. The fan was given a significant head start, and then The Freeze tried (and usually succeeded) to chase down the fan. It lead to hilarious tumbles, edge of the seat finishes with The Freeze only beaten a handful of times. #UsainBolt has even got involved on social media saying '#TheFreeze was too fast for him'. Its generated massive social media followings, viral clips, as well as major broadcasts highlighting this race live and on repeat (see the 'best of' clip below)! Plus it all started as a small low investment and creative idea (along with using the assets it had 😉)! The secret sauce to this amazing campaign was the asset the Braves had i.e. Nigel Talton, a former high school & college track (athletics for the non-Americans amongst us) sprinter who had run a blistering 10.47s for a 100m. #Talton happened to be on the ground crew team for the Braves and when they discovered Talton's elite background, the campaign was born and the rest is history. Talton retired as #TheFreeze in 2023 after sprinting for 6 yrs and the Braves jokingly put up a job ad for his replacement in March 2024. Major League Baseball will introduce advertising on team helmets during the upcoming postseason, starting with a deal with German apparel company Strauss, running through 2027. The ads, featuring the "STRAUSS" name and logo, will be displayed on both sides of each helmet. Strauss ads will also appear on the helmets of minor league teams from 2025-2027. MLB previously allowed helmet ads in international games and introduced jersey ads in 2023.
