Cloud Marketplace programs are maturing. Better but harder is the trend. Here's the scoop and 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 for partner leads and ISV's... Hyperscaler marketplace programs are nothing less than ingenious. The web of motivations across customers and sales people to 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 through hyperscalers' books has changed how we do business. My first cloud partnership was 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼. Since then: Programs have become more comprehensive, marketplaces more functional and fit for purpose. The environment has matured to a point where '𝗮𝗹𝗹' 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 could be managed through marketplaces. GCP, AWS and Azure are positioning their portfolios towards partner sales. GCP are even positioning two-layer (ISV, i.e. product, and SI, i.e, integrator) ecosystem approach to their AI stack. This adds further 𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 as an ISV. There are more partners. AWS in M&E alone has over 600 partners with one global partner manager. Resources are there, but here's the rub.... if you're an ISV, you've really 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁. Healthy Takeaways for ISV's to keep your partnerships Lean: 1 - Understand the ecosystems you play in. There may be multiple. 2 - Articulate clearly what you bring to the table in that ecosystem. 3 - Take time to completely understand the commercial drivers with individuals within the hyperscalers. i.e. How to help them. Yes, as an ISV, you are clamouring for attention. Just as in your direct sales, It's never been more important to focus your partnership proposition. #partnerships #value #growth

AI is at an inflection point for society, and particularly for leaders. In this Harvard Business Review article, authors and researchers Jacqueline Carter and Rasmus Hougaard discovered how AI has the potential to evolve how executives lead by helping them to save time on menial tasks and more effectively empathize with employees. I really enjoyed how they outlined the importance of embracing the idea of leadership augmentation with an emphasis on awareness, wisdom and compassion. Great insights from Ted McKenna and Matt Dixon on addressing indecision in AI sales and overcoming the Fear of Messing Up (FOMU). https://lnkd.in/ePQ3VcpA Logically, one might think selling AI solutions should be easier since there’s often greater tolerance for failure with new technologies. However, the reality is quite different. With the abundance of noise and a lack of proven use cases that demonstrate real impact, FOMU has become a significant challenge. I recall one AI project where the customer conducted an extensive pilot over several months, collected a wealth of data, and yet concluded that they had no clear path forward—even though the data highlighted critical operational gaps. Attempts to bring in experts to act on the findings didn’t gain traction. Looking back, it’s clear we were battling indecision. Fascinating synopsis on the impact of language to our potential. Cognitive Scientist Lera Boroditsky in her TED Talk shows how our primary language shapes our 👉thoughts 👉biases 👉capabilities 👉aspirations It’s powerful to understand this as individuals, and pay attention to how our own language and self-talk limits or empowers us. Great leaders have intuitively understood this correlation. Henry Ford stated decades ago “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right”. Despite the limitations of our own primary language, we can take greater care in how we communicate to ourselves and others for better outcomes. Bad communication habits are the killers of relationships. 1️⃣One of my simple rules is to avoid “I am” or “You are” statements. Eg “I am/ you are overwhelmed” puts a permanent label or identity on the person. It can easily be rephrased to “There’s some competing demands on my/your time to prioritize right now.” It’s a temporary situation rather than an identity, and shifts us from feeling defeated to empowered. 2️⃣My other simple rule is to think about what you want to create in your life and come up with a “How” statement that dominates your self talk thoughout the day. Eg, one of mine “How can I speak with more compassion?” This helps me soften my approach at work and home to increase the chances of being heard. As marketers, being able to play with language to influence behavior is why this career is so exciting. As leaders our language can impact how others think of themselves, either positively or negatively. With great power comes great responsibility.
