According to Jeff Baxter, VP of Product Marketing at NetApp, NetApp introduced new unified data storage systems optimized for AI workloads and offers a single unified storage operating system with ONTAP that can scale from small to massive levels. “I know you’ve talked to many people here, but the AFF A-Series is our thoroughbred for unified data storage, our high-performance array,” Baxter said. “And so the refresh of that line really injects a shot of adrenaline into our mid-range and high-end performance flash system…We’ve optimized it; it’s ready to take on AI workloads and pretty much anything else you want to throw at it.” NetApp is enhancing its autonomous ransomware protection with AI models and tamperproof snapshots, inspired by customer feedback. The volume of recent analyst calls we've taken around Broadcom/VMware is through the roof. Whether you're the lucky CIO whose increase was only ~200% or the poor souls looking at a ~800% hike, everyone needs help minimizing (unbudgeted) damage. As a vendor-agnostic IT advisory firm, we're in a good position to support our members navigate these very turbulent waters. Unfortunately, I'm not the SME from our Vendor Practice BUT I can regurgitate a few key points that I keep hearing in our analyst calls: - While Broadcom is upholding support for all currently active contracts, going forward products are no longer available for sale under a perpetual model - The sale of SnS renewals has been discontinued, and Broadcom is reluctant to honor extension language for customers currently in an ELA contract - Orgs that rely heavily on VMware for virtualization, cloud, and security solutions may face increased risk by not adopting Broadcom’s subscription model. The potential loss of support and updates will certainly create more exposure to security vulnerabilities and operational challenges. - During negotiations, leverage the consolidated license portfolio to secure favorable terms with Broadcom. - There’s still uncertainty surrounding Broadcom's management of VMware in the coming fiscal year.
