Yesterday evening I tuned into the Panel Discussion held by Jason Layton Managing Director - Crosstree The panel consisted of Industry Leaders: Paul Evans - President & CEO - Velocity Clinical Research, Inc. Jennifer Byrne - Founder & CEO - Javara Carlos E. Orantes - CEO - Alcanza Clinical Research Lori Wright - President & CEO - Evolution Research Group Adrian Otte - Operation Partner - LongueVue Capital As someone who has spent the past 8 years on the CRO recruitment including having worked for a CRO myself - this was one of the most interesting expert panel discussions I have seen in a long time! Some of the key takeaways & topics discussed were: 🔬 The Importance of Therapeutic Alignment & Specialization 🔬 PAO's vs CRO's - will they continue to collaborate or start to overlap 🔬 What the future will hold for the CRO & Site Network space Would highly recommend anyone in my network watching this insightful panel discussion to hear some discussions from key industry leaders

One of the most common reasons for leaving I'm hearing from salespeople this year is operational staffing shortages. Many service and technology providers in the Life Sciences sector over-hired in the post-pandemic boom. With the market cooling and layoffs occurring, there's a shortage of delivery personnel and project leaders, resulting in poor delivery. If you're the BD person whose name is on the next call or email, you'll likely spend a lot of time fighting fires. It could result in a significant drop, potentially to zero, in future business from that client. Repeat that story enough times and that salesperson is going to reach out to me. It's a challenging balance for vendors to maintain the right headcount in delivery while avoiding reckless spending when utilization is low. The issue has always been prevalent in the industry, but it appears to have become more common over the last 6-9 months. I'm interested to see what unfolds later this year and next.
