💡 Get up out of your chair. Don't settle for IMs and emails. At the very least, make a phone call. Don't be the kid who IMs the person sitting next to you. This is not so much about choosing the right time to use email for ambiguous or potentially political issues (there's a tip for that later). This is on-site working and having your team members a few steps away or just down the hall. It takes less time to get out of your chair and walk than it does to resolve an issue via messaging (and you get a better outcome). Sometimes you wait a whole day for someone to respond to an email or a message. Imagine that, waiting a whole day for someone to answer you! Just get up and ask them. If the discussion led to some kind of agreement, action item or assignment of accountability (4As), then follow up with an email or traceable IM.

Jake is a dedicated entrepreneur who is innovative. He is constantly seeking new ways to improve and differentiate his show The Bronx Zoo_TBZ. Creativity flows through every decision he makes, leading to viral content. Nothing has come easy, however Jake is incredibly resourceful. Jake makes the most of what he has, finding clever ways to stretch resources and maximize efficiency. This video brings to mind those times when a step in the manufacturing SOP is… just a bit too vague. In manufacturing, we know that clear, precise, and specific instructions are essential for consistent execution. Key takeaway: an effective SOP should be crystal clear, and it’s always a best practice to include pictorial aids to support each step. Remember, recurring manufacturing nonconformities are often not about “not following procedures” but rather about procedures that need better designed!
