What you won’t hear in the news about the employment situation:  There was a higher percentage of negative monthly revisions to employment data originally released in 2023 than in 2020, despite COVID and the brief 2020 recession… 16 of the 24 preliminary monthly revisions (67%) made to employment numbers were negative in 2023. Only 13 of the 24 preliminary monthly revisions (54%) made to employment numbers were negative in 2020. Traditionally, boards have had a compensation committee that focuses on executive compensation. That is changing. Today, successful organizations understand the value of people and how they are at the center of business success. This translates to their board composition. This article reinforces how important it is for the board to have a view over much more than executive compensation. Research has demonstrated that organizations with engaged employees deliver 21% to 23% better business results.
