The SBIR/STTR programs are still one of the more active, interesting, and valuable emerging primary small business procurement pathways. While this is just one of many strategies that go into an effective federal capture strategy, it’s one of the easiest areas of opportunity in the federal ecosystem for small business new entrants to start. On the flip side, SBIR/STTR funding is only 2% of the R&D funding available from participating agencies and the programs have become extremely competitive. So, make sure to plan ahead for your SBIR/STTR submissions in a way that leaves room for targeting the literal ocean of other funding opportunities with the federal government. There are a lot of SBIR/STTR submissions windows. It’s good to be strategic in these pursuits so you don’t miss out on capturing a huge federal contract because your bandwidth was focused on smaller innovation grants. This is a fantastic piece! My colleague, Yvette Wolfe, a senior lead scientist on Booz Allen Hamilton's Learning & Development team, recently spoke with Charter to discuss essential AI skills and how companies can cultivate them among their non-technical employees.
