However, a lack of standard measures for SDOH presents a barrier to comparisons and cross-study analysis. 🌐 Announcing the first public release of findings from our new study on an innovative Problematic Interactive Media Use (#PIMU) screener! 🌐 Dr. David Bickham, Lab Research Director, presented the paper, "Development and validation of a screener for problematic interactive media use among adolescents," at the American Public Health Association’s Annual Meeting this week. In his presentation, Dr. Bickham shared findings from our innovative study which introduces and validates a clinical screener focused on assessing functional issues and associated media use behaviors. Unlike traditional tools, our screener moves away from potentially stigmatizing attentional, behavioral, or cognitive deficits. Instead, it provides a balanced approach to understanding how media use impacts adolescent wellbeing, equipping health professionals with a powerful new tool to address this escalating adolescent health concern in a supportive way.
