I joined KGFA station as a listener in early 2022 and was asked to join the admin team in March 2022 to help with Listener Relations. My project management and change management skills were instrumental in the merger of KGFA with KBKJ in early 2023 - helping to align our processes, transition show information pages between Quip and the Line Official Business Account apps, and recruit and support DJs through the change. I have also served as a listener advocate helping share feedback with the broader leadership and helping resolve conflict. -

I joined the group in 2018 to start researching options for my daughter. I educated myself on the system and toured over 20 schools, taking detailed notes which I shared with fellow parents in the group. Since then, I have been active in the group helping answer parent questions as they go through the various rounds of the lottery.
I also developed a crowdsourcing initiative to figure out which neighborhood schools have enough capacity for all of the students in their attendance area and which ones don't. Each year, when the first round lottery results come up, I gather information from prospective Kindergarten parents and then post the findings in a column of a group spreadsheet maintained by a fellow member who works as consultant helping parents find schools for their children. -

The winner is chosen based on who got the most hearts and also the most votes from 4 anonymous judges.
After joining the group, I began helping the organizer out by answering frequently asked questions from new participants - such as how to pay their fee, how to post their recordings, etc. I created and shared screenshots to help walk contestants through how to enter. In order to recognize me for this informal role that I continue to serve in , the organizer recognized me as a "group expert" with a Facebook badge in the group. I also continued to enter the contest myself each week, make time to listen to all of the entries, and help mentor and encourage the other singers. I even managed to win the contest a couple of times.

The Ohio State University
University Fellowships are used to recruit new, incoming graduate students to Ohio State. Students cannot apply directly for these fellowships. I was given a University Fellowship which covered my first year of tuition and living expenses.

Herman B Wells Full Tuition Scholarship
Indiana University-Bloomington
The Wells Scholars Program, created in honor of the late IU Chancellor Herman B Wells, ranks among the most competitive and prestigious awards offered by any American university. The program covers full tuition, room & board, and book fees for 4 years of undergraduate education. The program also provided me with two semesters of study abroad (one summer in Italy and one spring in Spain) and a summer experience grant (used to study psychology at UC-Boulder).
