HOW TO DEPORT 11 MILLION ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS? More than 50% of Americans support the deportation of illegal immigrants. The official, illegal immigrant count is ~11 million but Trump has touted a much larger and unsubstantiated number of 18 million. The Obama administration employed a priority scheme that focused on the highest priority threats - those who posed threats to national security, public safety, those suspected of terrorism and espionage and those with criminal warrants or involved in gang activity. Obama deported and returned 3.2 million people in his first term and 2.1 million in his second term. Shortly after being elected, Trump said he would deport 3 million unauthorized immigrants with criminal records living in the United States (less than 1 million had criminal records).  Trump's policy deemed all undocumented immigrants as deportation targets. In the end, Trump deported 2 million and there were more deportations of minor offenders and fewer deportations of serious offenders. Upon entering office, Biden paused all deportations and ordered a review of DHS policies and practices. Like Obama, Biden employed a similar, but slightly different, priority-based framework in light of limited budget and resources. The BBC reported that covid lockdowns resulted in a 53% reduction in U.S.-Mexico border crossings but pent-up demand after that resulted in an all-time high in Dec 2021. Back in 2015, the left-leaning Center for American Progress said it would cost an average of $10,070 per person or a total of $114 billion in direct costs only to remove 11.3 million people. The conservative American Action Forum estimated it would cost $420-$620 billion and would take 20 years to accomplish a mass deportation program. The Bipartisan Policy Center estimated that deporting all unauthorized immigrants would shrink the labor force by 6.4 percent over two decades and would decrease U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, by $1.6 trillion. More recently this year, the American Immigration Council reported that for FY 2024, Congress provided $3.43 billion to immigration detention centers but appropriated just $840 million for the entire immigration court system and funded $424 million to the entirety of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ refugee and asylum division. The result was a skyrocketing backlog and years of delay in adjudicating cases. Indirectly, there are other costs. Who and how would some legal 4.5 million children of undocumented workers and parents be cared for? Millions of undocumented immigrants hold home mortgages and other debts. What would happen to the economy if they are defaulted on? What about millions of undocumented immigrants who own businesses and employ others – what would happen to the unemployment rate? What about millions working in essential occupations – who will step in to do the work? The #Soul of #America is broken. This is not about #politics. This is about #principle. The venom and viciousness that the President-elect has shown for the past eight years is unconscionable. Yet, half this country chose him to lead again. The past is surely an indication of the future because his present has been more despicable than ever. The collective soul of folks is broken. I used to work and live in Baltimore in my early career, and their Mayor has summed up what many Americans, especially #blackwomen, are feeling as a result of the election. For those who fill my comments with “she wasn’t smart enough,” “she didn’t have a plan,” “she was unfit,” etc….. it’s not true. You know the facts! If this had been a race between two emotionally and intellectually competent people, let the best person win. Unfortunately, this election was unbalanced in every regard with our VP clearly prepared and ready to lead. And if you search your soul, we can’t ignore the very real scenario that #blackwomen face in life. When we are ready to ascend to the proverbial throne, present company included, the disdain, disrespect, denigration, and degradation are levied in our direction. The bar is moved, and some intentionally change the rules, if not the game, to support their desire to win at all costs — such as bow down to the lowest common denominator and claim that “we’re not qualified.” And you know if you continually say it with a megahorn, your followers will jump on the bandwagon and your lie becomes truth. This is #psychologicalabuse. I’m exhausted of being exhausted. But I will never stop fighting for equality. Oh, and if you use the excuse, “Well he was better with the economy,” here are the facts. • he was given a great economy by the Obama administration that he eventually destroyed • he helped corporations and billionaires, not households, get a piece of the $$$ pie • and that $1300 stimulus check? Well, if an extra $325 dollars for four years ($27 a month) moves the needle for you as to why he’s better for your pocketbooks…. dig deeper with a better reason. WE know why. The words by him that he wants to lead in unifying the country ring hollow. The past and present have prepared us for the future. And when people show you who they are… believe them. You have to wonder what’s really important to Trump’s supporters? Is it Arnold Palmer’s God given IVF package, . . . . . or Trump conducting a 40-minute impromptu YMCA dance party at a town hall rally? Or is it their interest in his threats to call up the military to address the enemy within? Who knows, maybe he just wants to establish his own NAZI team to ‘handle’ anyone who opposes his agenda. From The Washington Post October 7, 2024 "Former president Donald Trump’s campaign proposals would add more than twice as much to the national debt as Vice President Kamala Harris’s would, according to new research released Monday — though both candidates’ policies would lead to trillions of dollars in new borrowing if implemented. Trump has called for extending his 2017 tax cuts, which would add more than $5 trillion over 10 years to the United States’ $35.7 trillion national debt, according to a study from the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB). His plan to end taxes on overtime wages, Social Security benefits and tips would add another $3.6 trillion in debt. And his call for a nationwide campaign to detain and deport undocumented immigrants would cost $350 billion. Trump says major new tariffs on imports would bring in enough revenue to offset all the tax cuts, but the study doesn’t support that claim, and many economists say the tariffs would also drive prices up for U.S. consumers. All told, CRFB found that the Trump policies it studied would add $7.5 trillion of debt — more than twice as much as the Harris proposals the group scrutinized. Harris would add $3 trillion to the debt by extending the 2017 tax cuts for those earning less than $400,000 a year, and $1.35 trillion through a major expansion of the child tax credit and the earned income tax credit, according to the study. Harris’s campaign says those programs would cost far less. Harris has also called for ending income taxes on tips, but her campaign has discussed maintaining payroll tax requirements and adding guardrails that restrict what kind of workers could be eligible. That would cost $200 billion, according to the study. “Despite the fact that our fiscal situation is really unhealthy, we have two candidates whose proposals, if looked at comprehensively, would make the situation worse rather than better, with a noticeable distinction that former president Trump would make it significantly worse,” CRFB President Maya MacGuineas told The Washington Post.

I live in a hilly area of Los Angeles where AT&T does NOT work. Still, I foolishly stuck with it for a decade, believing all cell phone providers were equally bad. 🤣 Then, about 11 years ago, I finally did a little online search and learned that Sprint was somewhat better than either Verizon or AT&T in my neighborhood. So, I switched to Sprint and stayed with it for the next 5 years, paying $45 plus tax every month for unlimited talk+text and a small amount of data (the same service as I have now)! Then, I did a little more search, back in 2018, and discovered there are MVNOs! Tello allowed my Sprint phone to switch to their plan and charged me only $13 plus for the same service (without the mandatory 2-year lock-in). After a bit of adjustment, a new phone, and Sprint absorbed into T-Mobile, now I am paying $9 plus taxes (It's CA, so it keeps going up little by little~~ 😎) for the same service (unlimited talk+text) plus 1GB data. Now, here's the meaty part (?) for you! Tello is offering $10 plus taxes a month plan for "unlimited talk+text and 2GB data" as their Halloween special. 😄 And for unlimited everything, it's $25 (plus taxes) a month, the ad 👇 says. (I have no use for that, but it does not sound too bad...) I am no spokesperson for Tello. We need certain regulations. It is not always easy to get the regulations exactly right, for sure. But we need to have the discussions by well-meaning politicians. We do not need any obstructionists when it comes to protecting ALL Americans! Lack of appropriate regulations is the reason why that ongoing fire in Texas is still burning. Bribery by the nra, and lack of appropriate regulations is why the good ole USA dwarfs ALL of the rest of the world combined in the number of mass shootings happening every day in the USA. These regulations have been repeatedly blocked by Republicans for decades. Rollback of over 100 environmental regulations by former president trump while he was pretending to be our president, is why the massive chemical fire by a de-railed train poisoned the entire area.
