Dry Van Freight Market Update Week 35: ~Retail events like Labor Day Sales, Back-to-School shopping, and upcoming Halloween parties are expected to increase truckload volumes in the Allentown, Harrisburg, & Philly markets.  ~Allentown has seen truckload volumes increase by 5.4% in the last month which has raised spot rates up over 2% of this time frame last year. ~Allentown > Charlotte paid trucks an average of $1.50/mile which is $0.17/mile higher than Week 35 2023. ~Harrisburg > Boston averaged $3.19/mile which is also up 2% y/y. #freightmarket #supplychain #transportation #logistics #trucking

Dry Van Freight Market Update June 10-16: ~Top 5 spot market states (CA, TX, GA, IL, & NJ) account for 1/3 of the national spot volume and reported a $0.02/mile decrease on a 5% lower volume. ~Outbound spot linehaul rates in these states averaged $1.85/mile last week, $0.02/mile lower y/y on a 2% lower volume. ~In 2019 rates were $0.01/mile lower, averaging $1.78/mile and compared to the peak of the surge in linehaul rates at the end of 2021, dry van rates have dropped $1.27/mile or 41%. #freightmarket #supplychain #transportation #logistics #trucking

Group is in our name because it includes the carrier companies and drivers we contract with to haul our clients' vehicles. Our relationship with them is as important as any other in our business. We have deep relationships with many. But be weary of sales people stating they, or their company, do not use loadboards. They do. Too many lanes / routes, carrier and client restrictions exist to 100% rule out loadboards. Yet when one has to be utilized, ensure the auto transport brokerage firm you work with has a thorough vetting program. Ask them what it is. How can they ensure the safety of the client's vehicle and the highest probability of a successful transport? As a well respected president once said, "trust, but verify."

There are 750,000+ US motor carriers of which 95% of them operate with 10 or fewer trucks. That fact outlines how many small carriers there are on the road. Yesterday, I booked with a single truck owner-operator, John. He doesn't have a team of people helping him, just his wife, who handles the emails and paperwork and he handles the driving. He was very professional, was on time, and communicated well. Those are the type of carriers I love to work with and create relationships with. #Freight #Logistics #Trucking #SupplyChain

Truckers weather storms. From this down market to delivering survival supplies in hurricane-ravaged areas, trucking companies and drivers are some of the most resilient people in America. It's tough on a good day. When will the storms subside? I don't know. And I don't know anyone who knows. But with driver appreciation week in the rear-view mirror, it's time for a reminder on how hard the American truck driver works. To feed their families, to bring supplies to those in need, and to keep the economy moving. Every day I talk with carriers. While they are facing a prolonged soft-freight market, increasing costs, and challenges galore, there remains a strong undercurrent of optimism. "We are going to keep hanging in there. On our GLCS, Inc. monthly update call today I was reviewing my typical market updates. I've prefer positive messaging but, with current industry news that is not really easy to come by. We headlined with: 1. Megafleet earning misses. 2. Truck tonnage reached 13 consecutive months of year over year declines. 3. Proficient Auto Logistics making a play to consolidate five Auto Haulers into one larger one as Backers File for IPO. 4. US-Mex Trade tops $200B. Two of the above are solid bad things. The other two are news. What POSITIVE things are going on right now in Transportation and Logistics?
