Our new startup focuses on applying robotics to the public safety and defense community, centering on three pillars: low-cost, ease-of-use, and open interface design to enable third-party extensibility. We are creating an autonomy software stack that allows military and public safety users to intuitively interact with robotics platforms, understand their environment, and make critical decisions. Alongside our core software suite, we're developing a palm-sized, autonomous drone to demonstrate our software stack's capabilities, integrating software and hardware to realize the product's full potential in target markets. The Role: As a Lead Robotics Engineer, you'll tackle challenging autonomy problems in small aerial robotics, including designing and testing algorithms for navigation, tracking, and stabilization. You'll develop and validate models in simulations across various environments to improve navigation performance in GNSS-denied situations. Your responsibilities will span software interfaces, operating systems, algorithm development, simulation, and optimization, ensuring our autonomous systems navigate reliably in tough conditions. If you're passionate about developing next-level sUAS autonomy, join us to make robots safe, easy, and affordable for real tasks. Requirements: Strong experience in C/C++, focusing on planning and navigation, ideally 8+ years of industry experience. Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Software Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or similar. Experience developing navigation algorithms for small platforms in GPS-denied environments. Experience with mobile/embedded platforms such as NVIDIA XavierNX, Qualcomm Snapdragon, or Intel Neural Compute Stick (Movidius). Experience translating navigation problems to embedded/edge environments. US Citizenship. Bonus Qualifications: Previous software development on a small uncrewed aerial system (sUAS). Familiarity with ROS/2 or PX4. Familiarity with GTSAM or factor graphs. Familiarity with simulation platforms such as Gazebo, Airsim, ISAAC, etc. Real-time, critical software development where latency matters. Python experience. VP Sales tells CEO that EV programs are low volume and company will (1) eat R&D costs, (2) absorb Validation/Testing costs, (3) lose $ on tooling and check fixtures (etc), and (4) must keep the same low margins as high volume programs.
