In 2023 .35% of venture investment dollars went to black women. And conservatives want to keep it that way. Often, grant funding is required to get small businesses to the 'investable' level. These grants go a long way toward just beginning to leveling field for high potential businesses that offer valuable goods and services to the US....and not just the black US. Black women start more businesses than any other demographic in this country. Maybe that's what frightens Conservatives and causes them to attack things that benefit black women, specifically. They negatively impact our economy by limiting opportunities for support and, therefore, success for deserving entrepreneurs that happen to be black and female. Black Men In Business Say This Is The Key To Success Being a Black entrepreneur is far from easy. If you are a Black business owner who is struggling, know that there are so many Black entrepreneurs who are exhausted from running a business with little to no assistance. And in 2021, Black and African-American owned businesses only accounted for about 3% of businesses in the United States. It’s important to note that there are over 33 million small business owners in The United States alone. More than 80% of small businesses operate without any staff. But despite the odds, many Black men are overcoming adversity and thriving in entrepreneurship. The most difficult part of being an entrepreneur in this economy is access to capital and people who can afford your services. The gap between the haves, and the have nots continues to widen, and it is becoming increasingly more difficult,” he told me. “Find those with not only the need but the discretionary income to utilize your products and services,” he said. Build Strong and Authentic Relationships Developing strong relationships is one of the most important parts of being an entrepreneur. And Taylor couldn’t agree more. He believes that building relationships is the foundation of being a successful entrepreneur. Leverage Data and Tap into Underserved Markets Greg Maurice is also a major player in the business world. Like Taylor, he has become a big name in both business and entertainment. He is first-generation Haitian-American and is a globally respected executive and entrepreneur. Invest in Compelling Brand Storytelling Maurice stressed the importance of investing in compelling brand storytelling. Unlike some people in the corporate sector, Maurice believes that connecting emotionally with your audience is a vital part of becoming successful.

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free—a momentous step toward justice and equality. But Juneteenth is not just a historical event; it is a call to action. It reminds us that the fight for freedom, equality, and justice is ongoing. As individuals, we have a responsibility to amplify the voices of those who continue to face systemic oppression and discrimination. Here are some ways we can make a difference: - Educate Ourselves: Learn about the history of Juneteenth and its significance. Understand the struggles faced by Black communities and the resilience that has carried them through generations. - Listen and Amplify: Listen to the stories and experiences of Black individuals. Amplify their voices by sharing their narratives, supporting Black-owned businesses, and advocating for change. - Advocate for Equity: Advocate for policies that promote equity, justice, and inclusivity. Support organizations working toward racial equality and social justice. - Challenge Bias: Examine our own biases and actively work to dismantle them. Engage in uncomfortable conversations and challenge stereotypes. Celebrate Black Excellence: Celebrate the achievements, contributions, and cultural richness of Black artists, entrepreneurs, leaders, and innovators. Let us use this Juneteenth as an opportunity to reflect, learn, and take action. Together, we can create a more just and equitable world for all.
