The Climate-Smart Commodities Grant is a funding initiative aimed at supporting projects that promote #climatesmart agricultural practices. We've teamed up with National Sorghum Producers (NSP) to equip their growers with technology and resources to participate in grant incentives. Key partnership highlights include: - Farmers Edge will work as a technology partner with NSP to enable seamless data capture of essential farm metrics, including Carbon Intensity Scores. - Growers can leverage data and FarmCommand, our end-to-end platform, to monitor progress and support climate-smart farm management decisions. - Growers can gain access to new revenue streams, supporting the long-term viability of the farm. Biodiversity in ESG (Episode 3) --- #urbanfarming is good for food availability in variety that is #esg friendly. #mixedcropping improves biodiversity by leveraging on the natural complementary and compensating features of plant variation with different nutrients. The key to #sustainable farming incorporates crop rotation, mulching, soil resting and regeneration, and multicropping to complete the holistic cycle of disease resistant planting. This powerful letter from global south leaders perfectly sums up the resounding sentiment I heard all over Climate Week New York this week. ♨️ We are in a climate emergency, but we are not acting like it. the climate crisis is here and is having devastating impacts around the globe today. We cannot wait to deploy any viable tool to accelerate action. ✅ Global south communities, indigenous peoples and governments issued a clear call for strong rules and mobilized finance through carbon markets, on their terms, not ours- and they’re growing tired of waiting for us to get our act together. As Sandeep Roy Choudhury said: “our projects are community resilience and adaptation projects that happen to be paid for through their mitigation outcomes. The money is simply not flowing to frontline communities through other means and there are no other sources stepping up. If we lose these markets, we lose these communities.” ✅Nature is not optional. The IPCC is crystal clear, 1.5 and even 2 is completely out of reach without saving the world’s standing forests and restoring damaged ecosystems- yet is being left out almost entirely of voluntary action frameworks and funding. Here's a snippet from Vandana Shiva: Knowledge and action are a continuum, flowing from the living systems and processes of the living Earth. As André summarizes here in these pages: “Regeneration International asserts that to heal our planet, all agricultural systems should be regenerative, organic, and based on the science of agroecology. Farmers can determine acceptable and regenerative practices using . . . [the] Four Principles of Organic Agriculture. These principles are: 1. Health. Organic agriculture should sustain and enhance the health of soil, plant, animal, human, and the planet as one and indivisible. 2. Ecology. Organic agriculture should be based on living ecological systems and cycles, work with them, emulate them, and help sustain them. 3. Fairness. Organic agriculture should build on relationships that ensure fairness in the familiar environment and life opportunities. 4. Care. 🌱 Empowering Farmers with Informed Decision-Making: Alí Guerrero Ojeda’s Story 🌱 At Producers Direct, we are dedicated to cultivating a profitable, sustainable, and smallholder-owned global cooperative. By digitizing market access and providing smallholders with real-time, actionable advice, we empower farmers to make informed decisions for their farms and communities. Today, we’re proud to share the inspiring journey of Alí Guerrero Ojeda from the La Prosperidad de Chirinos cooperative. Alí recently faced a significant decision: whether to implement a sprinkler irrigation system or a drip irrigation system for his plot. While initial advice from peers left him uncertain, our tailored service provided the clear, customized insights he needed. After assessing the unique characteristics of his land, we recommended drip irrigation, detailing its benefits and considerations. Alí shared, “Before, I was more inclined to use sprinkler irrigation because the cost was less. But you explained more precisely the advantages and disadvantages of each. That's why I was convinced.” With this newfound confidence, Alí has taken his first steps toward implementing drip irrigation. He has already invested in a 25,000-liter geomembrane reservoir and is preparing for the next phases—securing additional funding for equipment and collaborating with his cooperative to set up water tanks. We are inspired by Alí’s proactive approach and look forward to seeing how his farm thrives with this sustainable practice!

🌍☕ Fairtrade International has raised concerns that many smallholder farmers might be cut off from EU markets—not due to deforestation practices, but because of challenges in data management and compliance with the new EUDR. This could have serious implications for their livelihoods. A coalition of coffee organizations has called for urgent intervention to prevent unintended consequences for smaller producers. The law aims to ensure sustainability in supply chains for coffee, cocoa, and other commodities, but it’s vital that we support small-holder farmers in meeting these new requirements. 🌱 #SustainableFarming #ClimateAction #CoffeeIndustry #EUDR #FairTrade #Sustainability #CoffeeCommodities
