Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

    WHY WE CLIMB:
Fight for Air Climbs are unique fundraising events for the American Lung Association. They usually happen in prominent skyscrapers, stadiums or arenas and involve climbing multiple steps. Sometimes called a "vertical road race", teams and individual participants can use the event as a fitness target, as a race, with you challenging yourself or you racing against other people, or as a great way to be active and meet new friends. We know a lot about lung disease, but there is so much we don't know. Your participation will raise the funds necessary to provide life saving education, research and advocacy so we can beat lung disease and soon find a cure.

We Climb for those who are 'Fighting For Air'

We climb for our friends and loved ones who suffer from lung cancer, the leading cancer killer.
We climb for those who struggle to breathe, because air pollution threatens lives.
We climb for those whose asthma makes even the simple act of breathing difficult.
We climb for those that can’t breathe on their own.

As of now, strive to continue to raise money and sponsor students to volunteer. I also continue to donate educational and clothing items for the children.

Every year, KD collegiate and alumnae chapters raise more than $1.5 million dollars to benefit child abuse prevention efforts. A full 80 percent of the money raised stays in the community and is donated to local child-abuse prevention agencies; the remaining 20 percent is donated to PCAA’s national office for its national programs. PCAA was founded by a Kappa Delta, the late Donna Stone, Lambda-Northwestern, which makes the cause that much more relevant to the sorority.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. The same could be said for Kappa Delta as it relates to young women. With common values and a commitment to leadership development, Kappa Delta and Girl Scouts are sisters at heart.

Girl Scouts provides Kappa Delta members opportunities for face-to-face volunteering. Each year, Kappa Deltas devote over 175,000 hours to working with Girl Scouts in their communities. Popular KD Girl Scout events are self-esteem workshops, campus tours, International Girls Day celebrations and anti-bullying workshops. Girl Scouts who participate in Kappa Delta events can earn special patches including the Kappa Delta/Girl Scout patch and the International Girls Day patch.

Girls of all ages and backgrounds are impacted by this partnership. Kappa Delta collegiate volunteers get to see firsthand the difference they make in girls’ lives while learning important leadership skills in the process.
